An absolute ripoff! A super overpriced outlet. The collection is okay. The attendant is also alright. He himself is frustrated that there are no purchaser cause the prices are ridiculous. It's cheaper to buy booze in London at Mayfair or the same.

I had a disappointing experience here. While the Asian lady was kind, helpful, and welcoming, the middle-aged Scottish man at the counter later was extremely rude and dismissive. He showed no interest in helping, spoke in an unprofessional manner, and clearly lacked basic customer service skills. On top of that, the prices were unreasonably high. Overall, I would not recommend shopping here.

Interesting (but not that extensive) selection of whiskies besides the obvious ones. I was the only customer at the time and was given excellent suggestions of whiskies. I knew none of the whiskies I bought there beforehand and loved all 3 that I purchased. The gentleman that advised me (possibly the owner) was very knowledgeable, and attentive to my taste and desire to try something different. I'm certainly glad I walked in that day. *edited to add... one of the bottles I bought was from an independent bottler and I liked it so much I had to buy another bottle before leaving Scottland. By then I was in Glasgow and only found one shop there that sold it for 28% more than at the Whisky Trail.*

I visited The Whisky Trail in Edinburgh hoping to buy a special gift for my family—specifically a unique single malt whisky that’s truly exclusive to Scotland. The sales assistant confidently assured me that the bottle I purchased was only available in Scotland and not exported anywhere, not even to England. Based on that representation, I decided to buy it. However, after doing some research, I was disappointed to find that the same whisky is actually widely available online, including in other countries, and in many cases at half the price I paid in-store. I understand tourist prices are often higher, but what concerns me most is the misleading claim about exclusivity, which directly influenced my decision. To make matters worse, the shop has a strict no-refund policy—even in cases like this where the purchase was made under false pretenses. I’m sharing this review to help others make an informed decision. If you’re looking for an authentic and fairly priced whisky experience, I’d recommend doing a bit of research beforehand or visiting a more transparent retailer.

Thought when in Edinburgh, you have to try the local whisky. When I entered the shop, there was just too much whisky to drink or try as I wanted to try something new. The gentleman I spoke to , suggested that one and I like it. It’s not my favourite but it was good to at least experience it.

Another very overpriced whisky shop on the Royal Mile, they’re only interested if you look like a tourist. They clam up if you start talking in detail about whisky and appear to be knowledgeable.
