A Saturday lunchtime we rode over on the push bikes thinking it would be a good stop off for a pint and a bite to eat. Its sad to see a pub looking on it's knees. When we arrived at 13.00, to only find a table of two, and a four in the whole place. Both had told us that they had ordered and the food was taking some time! A lovely bar man greeted us after some minutes. I asked for a coke, erm, we have cans of cherry coke he said. So strange I think. Food for the two tables arrived some 40 minutes later, a long wait. We didn't order food, as the only dedicated vegetarian dish was a veggy lasagne which in my opinion is poor. Eating out is expensive and you want to have something special, not a microwave mediocre everyday dish. Anyway, on our way out I say an advertising board looking for a new lessee, maybe explains a lot.

Under new ownership in the last month. The food was delicious, homemade not high end dinning but fresh well cooked food.

300 year old roadside pub run by landlady Louise. Nice selection of beers and the menu looked very tempting. Met the chef as well, who was prepping for the evening rush. The original hatches for moving traveller's luggage up into the rooms above, can still be seen in places. The pub has expanded into adjoining areas and out the back. Plenty of seating inside and in the quiet rear garden.

What a wonderful place to visit. From the moment we made the booking for a table until we left earlier today the whole experience was great. Easy access from the large car Park means accessibility βΏοΈ is great. A disabled toilet is available. The food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed it here. We will be going back. There is a Mutt Menu so even yout best friend is catered for.

When a restaurant says it's Dog friendly it doesn't really mean it! I discovered a Gastro Pud that's true to it's word, even a Doggy menu with wine and beer too, treats galore. Now to the humans, we are in Somerset so you expect local Cider and local produce and you get it in bucket loads, all meat locally sourced and vegetables as much as viable possible. The chef and owner is from New Zealand and is happy to spend a few valuable minutes chatting about the produce and is very passionate about his craft. The food comes out like a work of art too but not stingy portions and plenty of hearty vegetables too. The dessert for us was a very traditional offering Sticky Toffee pudding and it was a good one and enough for us to share although l was tempted by the Pavlova, that's the thing nice large portions means you have to think of your waist line and you can have too much of a good thing but something to go back for another time. The waitresses we both very helpful and friendly, you pay as you go at the bar so plenty of time to chat to the locals.

We booked at short notice for a Sunday lunch. Everything from the initial phone call to the food was amazing. We were seated near to the restaurant bar and it was a pleasure to watch the team working together. There was a great new member of staff working hard and being supported by his peers. A good working atmosphere goes a long way to a positive dining experience. The food was wonderful, well presented and beautifully cooked and after our 3 course lunch we could not have been happier. I would recommend booking as this was a busy setting. Dog menu is a fantastic idea with special seating areas but you would not feel isolated. We will be back and our own dog may get to sample the sausage, veg & gravy!

This pub is amazing! Large carpark with a few steps into the establishment to be aware of for disabled and buggies but not a great drama. Disabled parking available as well. As you enter through the very pleasant hallway the toilets are immediately on your left, you find yourself straight into a cosy and welcoming drinking bar with TV. Just off to the left is a lovely little snug with a couple of chairs for reading books etc. Further on the pub opens up into the larger restaurant bar and seating area. This area is very spacious and excellently decorated and furnished. The atmosphere and aesthetics are very pleasant indeed making for a great experience. The staff were welcoming and friendly they were also good fun and very efficient. The menu was extensive with a specials menu also provided, there was a lot to choose from! I went with the tomato soup to start which was stunning. For main I had the pie of the day which happened to be steak and ale, again it was of excellent quality! Totally recommend the gravy was extremely rich and moreish. Dessert was the brownie which came out warmed through and was delicious. The rest of my party also said their meals were excellent. By the end we were all very full, having enjoyed the most excellent food. Based on this experience I think you would be mad if youβre in the area and donβt book a meal here. Even just popping in for a drink the bar area is lovely.
