It is a usual Premier Inn. The room is functional and the bed is, like always, very comfortable. The problem in this branch is the absence of staff. The reception is unstaffed and the check-in machines do not always work properly. There is no room cleaning expect if asked to the (unstaffed) reception. The ventilation system could be improved as a quick shower lead to a room full of damp.

The worst premier inn I’ve ever been to. To summarise: One member of staff working both bar and check in desk…30 min plus wait for a drink. Food ordered was not what we got all paid extras missing! Second night food ordered was served flat cold…chicken I might add! The room hasn’t been cleaned in god knows how long. Overpriced because of location but under delivered on what you expect from Premier Inn. Advice: find a local B&B that will appreciate your hard earned money and make your stay one to remember.

I have been a regular user of Premier Inn for many years staying at multiple properties across the country. This is the first time I have felt it necessary to post a negative review. I picked a Premier Inn Plus room, which is my preference where available, but was shocked by the shabbiness of the room. The headboard and chair were rubbed away and paint missing in the toilet. Also no hot water in the bathroom tap. When I pointed this out to the on-site team their response was “thanks, will be helpful for future guest”. Given that these problems were visible, a basic review of the room by hotel management would have identified them. Appears they have become complacent! I waited to post this review until central customer services had responded. It is well past their service level of 5 days so I felt I had no option but to make others aware of the standards at this particular Premier Inn. Real shame as the usual product is good value for money.

Checked in on 1st Nov, the staff member who I unfortunately forgot the name, was lovely, he checked us in at 11:30am and gave us the ultimate wifi code, as I also am an employee with Whitbread, duty manager. He was so polite and just had excellent customer service. Room was good, it was clean and as always bed comfortable. When we went down for a small bite that same day, we ordered bowl of chips with katsu topping, bowl of chips with beef chilli topping and nachos. Nachos were good, although as they have an open kitchen I could hear the chef asking the team member if it needed to have fries or tortilla chips. When the topped chips came out, they had missing items, no garnish, no chicken, no sour cream, no garnish again and no cheese sauce. When I told one of the member that this was wrong, they just took the plate, without apologising and had to go in the kitchen, where both team member and chef had to read the specs of how it should come out with.. then (I’m assuming she was the duty manager on shift, I’m not too sure, but she had short blonde hair and glasses) no apologies just a “here you go”. The next day, I went back to reception asking for the wifi code again, as they expired, and she said I needed to pay, when I said I was given them for free, she started questioning just why etc, when I was just about to say I also work for PI.. and her response was “this is all you had to say”. I mean fair enough, we all have bad days I guess but as a duty manager who also works in customer service, that’s not the service I’d provide to anyone. Anywho, again, room was fab and the lad on reception was absolutely fantastic, he was Asian but so sorry I didn’t catch your name. Oh also, reception always empty, no one ever to be found, have to ring the buzzer.

My Daughter and I recently stayed at Royal Mile Edinburgh. All the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. All our meals were absolutely delicious thanks to chef Andrew. From Receptionist to waiting staff, house keepers a big thank you to you all for looking after us. We’d definitely recommend Royal Mile and we’d like to stay again some time soon. Xx

Great Central location for exploring the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Professional polite and very helpful staff. Lovely food available both in the morning and evening. I would recommend upgrading your room to Premier plus to be able to use a stable WiFi service and a little extra comfort and convenience in your room .

The hotels location was ideal with it being next to the train station as well as sightseeing areas and shops. The beds were extremely comfy and the room was nice and clean. The only faults we had were, the room & lobby was extremely hot , despite having a temperature adjust in the room there was no cold air circulating at all so it made our sleep very uncomfortable. In addition , one of the staff members were fairly rude when letting us know we can’t use a certain lift because it’s for housekeeping despite it not having any signage to do with that. Unfortunately, there was a power cut scheduled aswell between 11-12 so we could make use of the facilities before checking out as we couldn’t see at all etc. Paying £70 for less than a 24 hours stay with maintenance problems , temp problems etc i would’ve expected paying a little less or even having a small percentage off my next stay in a premier inn.

Superb location, great staff in the Thyme Restaurant. The air-conditioned rooms are nice (no opening windows). Very good location close to Waverley Train station for walking to and from this main rail hub. Nice, clean, minimalist approach to room design, with everything you need and nothing you don't.

I usually love staying at Premier Inn as it has an almost guaranteed standard of service for a reasonable price. Unfortunately I was disappointed with this stay because at day 4 the room had not been cleaned or no fresh towels. When I enquired I was told you have to request this before noon. No where had this been written and check-in had been done by self-service so how are customers to know. The routine fire alarms sounded repeatedly on a Monday and again no prior warning so I began to wonder if there was a true emergency and felt very unsettled? I feel a small sign on the mirror or back of the room door would ensure residents are kept informed. Also the mattress was poor with a wire poking through the edge where you would sit before getting into bed. It really hurt my daughters leg. The divan part of the bed was badly plucked and large staples protruded which I feel was dangerous. I was disappointed with this stay especially as I paid a premium price.
