Best backpackers hostel in the city, tried a few, this is head and shoulders above the rest. Couldn't be more central, being as the name says on the Royal Mile, a great position for nightlife and sightseeing, handy for the railway station and buses. With a cozy atmosphere, it's quite small compared to most hostels which probably adds to the friendly feeling you get when you arrive. Very clean, warm, and quiet, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful you won't find a better place to stay.

I rarely ever leave bad reviews, and honestly, I really enjoyed my short stay at this hostel. However, something extremely unpleasant happened that left me genuinely traumatized. I was given a towel - which I actually appreciated, especially since there was no deposit required - but after taking a shower and starting to dry myself, I discovered that the towel was covered in long black hairs… ALL OVER MY BODY… I had no idea what to do, I nearly threw up! It was absolutely revolting I understand that accidents happen, and maybe this was an isolated case. I have no idea who might have used the towel before me. But aside from being truly shaken by the experience itself, I was very upset by the reaction of the receptionist - she only offered an apology and thanked me for informing her, but took no further action. In situations like this, I believe it’s important to do something to make up for the mistake - offer a complimentary service, a free breakfast, refund, I don’t know - just anything! I left feeling extremely disappointed, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever be able to use hostel or hotel towels again, unless they are white so I can clearly see they’re clean. Other than that, everything was good for a hostel: clean facilities, free tea and instant coffee in the kitchen, and an excellent location. It might also be nice to add a small shelf or holder by the bed for essentials

I slept for only one night and it was nice. Cool place, quiet and people were respectful. As in all places in scotland, it is cold inside in winter and I was not able to get free towel after 22. Deffinitely recommend staying here!

Edimburg is a lovely city. My friend and I stayed for 2 nights in the Little Miss female dorm. The place is cozy, the staff was nice and helpful, and the showers and toilets were clean. The location is great, it's very close to the city center. Would recomend

Everything was great! This is the best hostel I've stayed at by far!! The people are so nice, the location is exquisite and the service is phenomenal. We could pick up our keys in the middle of the night, and we could leave our luggage for a longer period then the checkout time. Everything is cleaned daily. The room is clean and not dusty, the bathrooms are also very clean. The showers are fine and clean. If you need anything you can ask the volunteers and they also assemble great activities. I would 100% go back if I'm staying in Edinburgh again, so I recommend it dearly!!!

Very pleasant stay here for a couple weeks. Chill, cozy hostel. It was clean. Lockers in the room and outlets at each bunk. Ear plugs, hair dryers, straighteners, and more available. Large book share. Events offered most days. And very centrally located.

It's a great hostel! It's run by the same people at Castle Rock so you know what to expect!! Clean, great staff, kitchen, activities on most nights. It's the smallest hostel of the chain. The kitchen and common room are small but they let you use the luggage room, big kitchen and common areas at High Street hostel across the street. Overall great and comfortable stay. I was solo. Stayed in a female dorm. The bathrooms are co-ed but I felt very safe. Nice hot showers. Would stay there again if Castle Rock is fully booked. I just prefer larger places but if you want a quieter stay and actually sleep, you'll enjoy it!

Really lovely hostel with a cozy atmosphere. It's easy to meet other people and the staff and volunteers are really welcoming. The hostel itself is quiet small since everything is located on one floor which I really liked. Overall good atmosphere and everything is clean :)

Amazing location and staff, great facilities. I came here last minute travelling solo, staff told me about a bar crawl they have every Thursday and assured me there’d be other people on it also travelling alone… I absolutely loved it. Met people from all over the world, sampled a good portion of Edinburgh’s bars, the staff leading the crawl were great. It’s not the quietest night’s sleep you’ll ever get but what do you expect with a location smack bang in the middle of Royal Mile. Free earplugs at the front desk anyway. I would definitely go again. A trip I’ll never forget!

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean dorm with plenty of space for the number of people occupying. Kitchen small but has everything I needed, enough space to prepare, cook and good space set aside for dining tables. Will visit again!
