Got referred for various tests due to ongoing ill health due to Medical malpractice/negligence at the hands of NHS Forth Valley Mental health dept, seen Respiratory surgeon, ENT surgeon, Neurologist & a Neurosurgeon - tests such as Nasal Endoscopy, EMG & Nerve conduction tests. The Neuroseurgeon also referred me for a brain, neck & shoulders MRI scan at the other Spire hospital in Edinburgh Murrayfield, fast, not long waiting times, good communications etc. The NHS is totally destroyed in Scotland & is not fit for purpose.

I would like to share a very disappointing experience I had with Shawfair Park Hospital. I booked a private appointment with Dr. Andrew Tatham for 18th August 2025 at 11:00 a.m. to get a second opinion about my eye condition. Since it was a pre-booking, I had to pay £200 in advance to secure the slot. The appointment was confirmed well before my trip to the UK, but just a couple of weeks before the visit — when I was already in the country — the receptionist cancelled my appointment without giving a proper reason, saying only that Dr. Tatham was “not the best specialist” for me to see. Even worse, the £200 payment has still not been refunded to my account, despite nearly two months having passed since the cancellation. I find this level of service and communication completely unacceptable for a private medical facility. I hope the hospital reviews its internal processes to avoid such unprofessional treatment of patients in the future.

From start to finish, Spire Shawfair made me feel valued, well looked after and cared for, Having chosen Mr butterworth as my consultant (I had previously seen him in the past). It was never in my mind to go else where, i used the online booking platform to book my consultation and was lucky to get an appointment for the next day, Mr Butterworth listened to what i wanted to achieve from surgery, he set out my expectations clearly and told me the risks that could possibly be involved, there was absolutely No pressure to go ahead and I very much felt that it was up to me to decide if i wanted to go ahead, I took the day to decide and called the next day to book, again i was very lucky to be given a date of only 3 weeks later, all information was emailed in a very timely manner, and i knew if I had any questions, I could email (which i did). I always got a reply within an hour or so. On the day of admission, i was welcomed by the reception team and was quickly taken to my room by Sarah, i was shown where everything was, and someone would be along to do my admission soon, Vanessa admitted me, and wow she is amazing, she told me everything i needed to know and explained the time for theatre etc, couldn’t have asked for a more lovely nurse to put you at ease. Food Order was taken by the lovely Doreen, the menu is very good, and meals can be adapted if there is something you don't want or Cant have, couldn’t fault the food. Breakfast was amazing. My anaesthetist Lynn was also great, couldn’t have felt in more safe hands, both lynn and her assistant really do know how to put you at ease. I feel like spire must really pride themselves on employing what I can only describe as caring, empathetic people that take pride in what they are doing for the patients. Spire kept my husband updated on my progress And once back in my room, he quickly arrived to check up on me, I was very well looked after by Michelle through the night, and I will be forever grateful for her care she showed me. One week on, and I was back for a check up, was taken right on time by nurse Paula, again I had everything explained and was able to ask as many questions as I wanted to, I came away knowing that if I had an issue, all I had to do was phone in. Honestly, Spire Shawfair, couldn’t have done anything better in my opinion. The care shown from the start has been amazing. The staff are a huge credit to Spire.

My 6 week old baby had a tongue tie cut at Shawfair last May. We phoned and got an appointment the following day. The consultant was superb, calming me and explaining the procedure, undertaking it very efficiently there and then before taking us to a private room and repeatedly checking in on us following the procedure etc. As a result I managed to continue feeding for over 12 months. Cannot thank them enough.

This is an utterly atrocious company with worst customer care I've ever received of the managers are reading this you're receptionist are destroying your company! I've called 5 times to ask what time my appointment is for my disabled nephew they say if they can't talk to someone who physically cannot speak i can't get the isnlfo for the appointment, even when i explained this they still wont help and they keep hanging up on me and won't even cancel my appointment so they can still charge me. This is a Disgrace.

I just had a colonoscopy done at the hospital and wanted to say how professional, warm and kind all staff had been, including the reception, nurses, those looking after your welfare and of course the consultant. Highly recommend the place!

Such a welcoming good experience at this hospital, very professional approach with everything from the initial consultation to the completion of my treatment. My consultant, Dr Mehat was excellent, very professional and more importantly, very reassuring as I am quite a nervous patient and I would definitely return to him to have my other cataract done when the time comes, well done. Very happy patient.

clinical staff are nice from the one one consultation I had here, my complaint is about getting information after the first visit, as I've been scheduled for another procedure. I've been trying to get a hold of ANYONE for days to try change the date of a follow up procedure to no avail. Reception cannot help and only redirects the call to extensions where no one answers. Someone did try phone back the day before the procedure: I didn't get the chance to pick up and they did not leave a message, no idea what that'll be about till I show up I imagine (as I phoned back but no one answered). Really appalling, I'd expect way more from a private hospital.

I've been there for a Cardiologist consultation and had the pleasure to meet Dr. Flapan. The consultant was very friendly and the consultation very thorough. Received a response in a week and this was very accurate and clear as well. The building is not easy to reach from the city centre though.

Just visited a Cardiologist at Shawfair and had a consultation followed by an echo scan and then treadmill exercise. Treatment throughout was excellent and would be highly recommended for anyone needing a check. Quick service from Spire with really good facilities. Many thanks to Dr Henriksen and his team.
