The hostel is in a great location in Edinburgh, and the staff were very friendly and polite. The bar downstairs had a great atmosphere. However, the rooms were disappointing. We stayed in a 10-bed dorm where the curtains on my bed were missing. I was told that because of New Year's, no maintenance was available, so they gave me an extra bed sheet to use as a curtain instead. βWorst of all, the duvets were disgusting, with visible urine and blood stains. While the bed linen itself was clean, the state of the duvets was unacceptable. We paid Β£80 per bed due to Hogmanay, which we expected to be expensive, but the poor quality of the room wasn't even worth Β£20. On a positive note, the bathrooms were always clean.

Perfect low budget hostel! We had a private family room. Rooms are clean, staff is really friendly, the bar downstairs is always alive and a great place to have a drink and meet people. Location is also perfect, everything is in walking distance! We didnβt book the breakfast but from what I saw there was plenty of choice.

Pros: - Location (in the centre of old town close to major attractions, also down the hill so you dont need to climb up it) - Staff were friendly at check in and check out - Hotel seemed clean and modern. - Seems to be a strong social vibe, admittedly wasn't able to enjoy it much as I arrived late and needed to leave earlier in the morning. Cons: -Making your own bed: Such a stupid concept. I understand that this is a budget hostel and not a 5 star hotel but I feel that having your bed made should be expected, I'm on vacation. Especially if your on the top bunk, it is really annoying to need to make your own bed when trying not to bother the other guests. Basically every guest complained about this, seriously end this policy. No other hostel requires this. - Poor design of the room location. My room and bed is right beside a window that opens to the bar. If you want to get any sleep, its not happening. - No lockers in room. Again, most hostels have lockers, are the bare minimum - Design of beds: I found the beds to be extremely squeaky adding to an uncomfortable sleep. Furthermore, no outlets or light at the bed.

Lovely hostel in excellent location. Beds are comfortable, bedding is clean. The only negative I have is the lack of plug sockets: some bunks had them on their lights but some didn't and there weren't any elsewhere in the room. Otherwise would definitely book again.

Room was warm and clean. Beds are comfortable. Considering it's a hostel it was quiet. Loo and shower were clean. Bar and restaurant are open till one , reception is 24 hours. Didn't realise bed linen and towels are extra when we booked but you can loan them at a reasonable price . The hostel is a short uphill walk from the train station but the walk passed the shops etc is lovely

On the positive side: Clean room, quiet, great daily service. Comfy bed with linen provided, shower and loo well supplied. Soft fluffy towels! Negative: the pictures showed a twin room with kettle and mugs. Not available, only a guest kitchen downstairs next to the bar. This tiny smelly kitchen was horrible esp compared to the rest of the hostel which was clean and fresh. The key card failed every time, meaning a trip back to reception for a reset every time i needed to access it. Clean dishes and pots left piled high, never tidied away in the 2 days I was there. Floor never swept. Hardly any cutlery - no forks at all, no sharp knives, only one teaspoon. A pile of enamel plates, a few china plates, one random bowl. The staff were helpful with the continual resetting of the key card although on the last morning, after the receptionist let me into the kitchen, I found I was locked out of my room too. Apparently the system assumes that when you leave your room on check out day, that's it. Very annoying and such a time waster as I was on a tight schedule with a train to catch at 7.30am and ended up going back and forth trying to get back into my room.

I loved staying here, super cozy and complete, I spent 3 nights and it was very good. The bar inside the hostel is very fun, complete bathroom with shampoo and soap for hands. Clean sheets and closet to block the things that are big enough to fit the suitcase. It was perfect. Nothing to complain about!
