Possibly the best hostel I ever stayed. The other thing is about security about access card to chill room (self service meal room) . I was arranged by staff to staying in Belushi, which the opposite of the st Christopher hotel. I kept questioning about the access card to go chill room , which the card was invalid to the next day. Staff changed the card helpfully. Until the last night that I stayed finally I know the reason was about security to avoiding any people who may leaving their luggage in the room overtime, “we could do the extended access till the day you departed.” And the moment I left in next 8 hours I understand the situation. It would be great if staff would be working smarter for every travellers to asking one more question, “do you need to extended your access card to chill room for locker and self service meal area till departure.” I’m not the only one who keep walking up and down everyday to changing the access card for the chill room.

I stayed at this backpacker hostel before, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the lack of transparency. The hostel does not clearly mention on its website that lockers are not included. While there is space for a locker in the room, you are required to purchase one separately for £4, which felt unreasonable and misleading. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a hostel, as basic security should be included. The room itself was just okay—very small. It felt like as soon as you entered, the room was already finished. It was a four-bed dorm, and while manageable, it was far from comfortable. The bathroom was acceptable, nothing special. Another unexpected cost was the towels, which are charged at £5. Considering I paid £39 for a shared bunk bed, these extra charges felt excessive. For a similar price, I could have booked an ensuite room on Airbnb or elsewhere and been far more comfortable. What made the stay stressful was the constant worry about my belongings. Without a free locker, I genuinely felt anxious about leaving my things unsecured, which took away any sense of comfort or relaxation during my stay. Overall, the stay felt poor value for money, with too many hidden charges and unnecessary stress. I would not recommend this hostel unless these issues are clearly communicated and basic amenities are included.

good location. beds are thin and uncomfortable, the pillows are very hard aswell. the walls are thin and you can constantly hear people through them and the bathrooms are left in a state regardless of have many times they’re cleaned. the lock doesn’t work on our door and the windows also do not shut or open.. or move. The sheets were stained when we got there, on all our beds (4 people). The lift was also broken. Toilet cubicles aren’t fitted with bins and only one of the sinks of floor 4 work. They also charged us twice and wasn’t resolved (£400) immediately. The receptionist however and all other staff were helpful and lovely.

Hold your horses, guys! You are going to read the most extensive review of St. Christopher Inn today. 1. Location: The location is perfect for tours. Everything is walkable. If you are arriving from the Airport, the final bus station is just 400m away from the hostel. 2. Accommodation: Clean Linen with Blankets provided. There is a cage beneath your bed to store luggage. Remember to bring your padlock if you want to secure it. Padlock can also be purchased from the reception. 3. Showers and Toilets: Separate section outside the dorms. Regularly cleaned. Free shower Gel provided at the reception. Towels are not provided but can be rented. 4. Food: Breakfast can be purchased for 6 GBP. Served at Belushi's. Belushi's also offer 25% discount on food if you are staying at the hostel. 5. Kitchen and Luggage: There is a Chill-out cum Waiting room with a small kitchenette. You will find a Kettle, Fridge and Microwave there with some utensils. You can't cook but Ready to eat meals can be heated. Lockers can be rented to store luggage. 6 GBP per day for the large locker. 6. Water: Water dispenser available at the reception. However, Tap water is topnotch also. Things to note: 1. They have two buildings with reception only in one. For anything, you might have to go to the reception across the road. 2. Chill out room is crammed and not a great place to socialize with other guests. 3. Although there was a mention of Events, there was no notice board to display the events. 4. The staff is friendly and they are super helpful if you need anything. Overall a great hostel and definitely recommended to other guests

The staff is amazing, super helpful and always kind. The rooms need a lot more cleaning. People should respect the bed/locker attributed to them. The bathrooms could also be more clean (but I think that’s a problem with the people that stay over, not the cleaning staff). The flushers on the toilets don’t always work. The location is perfect to walk around the city. They offer free shampoo and body soap that you can collect on the lobby. They also have padlocks and other stuff that you can buy. You can lent towels. Overall the stay was nice. (We stayed 2 nights)

This is a good hostel. Close to the train station and tourist sites. Clean, comfortable bed, lots of bathrooms/showers. Free breakfast if you book direct. Dropped one star because they don't have a full kitchen (microwave only) and no real common space to meet people. They have a bar tho. As a solo traveller, I found it easier to meet people at breakfast rather than at the bar at night. Also there can some noise but I can sleep through anything.. bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper! I only stay in St Christopher's locations when I have a travel day the next morning. I wouldn't make it my main accommodation (forced to eat out everyday and harder to meet people). But it's a very convenient hostel and I will definitely keep using them before a flight, train journey etc..

I stayed in a 4 bed room for 5 nights, I never saw our room cleaned. The bathroom were always dirty, disgusting to use and days passed for them to be cleaned. There’s no chill area so if you want to chill before heading to the next tour you have to sit on your bed. During my stay they never changed the bed sheets. It is well located if you’re interested in the old town.

Pros: Great location. Very friendly staff; they also lent me an adaptor when I asked for it. 25% off in the pub next to the hostel for all of us. Cons: Not really clean rooms/hostel; there was dust on the floor and ventilation was poor. The space of the room was not big enough to accommodate 8 persons. Also, the shared showerd/toilets were only two for 4 dorms! There was no chair or desk either in the dorm or even in the corridor. The door made an annoying beeping when someone entered the dorm which was loud enough to wake me up during the night.

Excellent place, clean, modern, well maintained. The front staff was friendly, helpful, and even the breakfast was great at the pub right across. Walking distance to the train, bus, and core Edinburgh old city attractions. An excellent bang for the buck, highly recommended.

I stayed in a 9 bed room on my first two nights, and a 6 bed room on my last three nights. The bathrooms and rooms were cleaned everyday which I liked. Loved the atmosphere as well, I got to meet many other guests. The staff are extremely friendly too! They recommended me some tours on my first day arriving and I enjoyed the tours they suggested. Your entire experience really depends on your luck. In particular, who you get roomed with. My first two nights weren't so pleasant because of the other guests in the room, as well as the unexpected 5am fire alarm. But the rest of my stay in the 6 bed en-suite room was great! My only complaint is that the bed curtains were dirty, with a lot of distinct brown stains, changing them every now and then could help :)
