   We had an amazing experience on the private speed boat tour with Portnellan Farm! Our captain, Chris, was absolutely wonderful, so friendly, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area (he grew up right on Loch Lomond!). He shared great stories, gave us an exciting and fun ride around the Loch, and showed us some truly stunning views. I have to assume that this was so much better than the group tours that leave from the main ports (and not much more expensive when you have a group). Having a private boat made the experience feel personal, relaxed, and unforgettable. If you’re deciding between the big tours or this, definitely go with Portnellan Farm's Private Tours. And if you can’t make it all the way up to Loch Ness, don’t worry, Loch Lomond is every bit as beautiful, especially when you’re out on the water. We couldn’t recommend this experience more highly!

   We stayed for a week in August 2025 and had the most perfect week of weather. We had great communication from Freda in advance of our stay and arrived at 4pm to a warm welcome and the stunning view. Freda, David and their family made us feel so welcome and were really friendly. The accommodation was perfect for us with all rooms overlooking the view. The bedrooms are generous and comfortable and the kitchen and sitting room make for a very comfortable stay. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cooking equipment. We had a speedboat tour with Chris and hired kayaks on another day which made the experience even more magic. We've decided to book again for new year and are looking forward to our return to one of our favourite places.

   Took the kayaks out for 2 hours and had a great time! They were very responsive, there to greet us exactly on time with the kayaks all ready, and the kayaks were all in good condition. Highly recommend!

   Service & communication from Chris was excellent. Safety briefing great. Equipment & wetsuits were very good. Chris gave us good advice specific to the weather conditions on the day. Lovely little private bay on the shores of Loch Loman - very pretty setting & views. Would recommend.

   The Old Farmhouse is an exceptionally appointed self-catering house with an unmatched view of Loch Lomond. Every detail has been attended to, and the hosts are delightfully hospitable, but never intrusive. Portnellan is a working organic farm, and this adds to the charm. If you are considering a stay in the Loch Lomond area, you could do no better than The Old Farmhouse at Portnellan!

   What a nice place, we stayed 2 nights in the tent. The owners are very friendly and hospitable, has a lot of knowledge of the area for hiking, eating and water activities. You can buy organic beef what they produce them selfs.

   We stayed in the Glamping tent this past week. Wow! What an experience. The view from the tent was gorgeous. Great location. Very private. Lots to do close by. Great base for climbing Ben Lomond as well as other nearby peaks. Chris, David, and Freda were extremely friendly and very accommodating. The glamping tent was very comfortable and the bedding was lush. We were very warm with the nice log burner in the tent and I loved the firepit and super nice outdoor table and chairs. Sole access to bathroom with shower and roomy kitchen was very close. Large doors opened in the kitchen exposing a great view of Loch Lomond. A private boat Dock was close by with all the water sports and boat tours available by Chris. Farm is composed of approximately 250 acres of gorgeous land right on the Loch. Family owned and operated makes for a very pleasant and personalised stay. We are definitely coming back to stay here again. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
