Lovely homely pub with reasonably priced drinks - the only thing letting it down (which has been present the last few times I have visited) is the smell. Not sure if staff are using a mop that cleans the toilets but quite a strong smell of urine hits you as you enter the pub. Noticed quite few patrons comment whilst there too. Such a shame - decorated and festive for Christmas but please please please sort the smell - would love to keep visiting here as my local but the smell is not pleasant

Nice selection of food and libations. We went for lunch and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Attentive service and good food.

Surprisingly good food! Fish was so fresh and delicious! The Caesar salad was also very good. Very good cocktails and beer. Our server Ania was delightful.

The staff is very polite, pleasant. Portions are big. Tasty, a lot, the price of a haggis with potatoes for the price of a small glass of beer. Have USB! Good! For me, the dish is a little spicy, you can add it yourself - pepper and salt are on the table.

Watched Scotland v Wales here 11.02.23. The lady in the Irish rugby shirt (bar manager I think)" kindly let me book the best seats in the house...the day before. Very welcoming pub, lovely staff, nice food & lovely beer with some nice craft ales. A first class bar.

Roomy, comfortable, rich leather and Victorian vibes. Decent value bar snacks, good selection of beer & friendly staff! Recommended for the location & spaciousness inside, that's a useful combination & worth a few mins walk from Princes Street/New Town!

I can't recommend a visit to this place more. The staff upon entering were very polite and made us feel welcome. As tourists we had some questions and all the staff were able to advise and help. So a massive thank you to them all. But that's not the best bit!!! THE FOOD!!! it was fantastic, I kid you not we sat initially just to have some drinks and saw some of the starters coming out and thought they were the mains. We asked a member of staff as we perused the menu we had, for it to be confirmed they were starters. Once we had eaten out way through a nachos starter we ordered some more drinks, of which there is a good choice, and ordered our mains. Suffice to say we were both glad our hotel was a short walk away as we were stuffed. We have both travelled far and wide across the globe and eaten at some fantastic restaurants but this place ranks as one of the best. If you are visiting Edinburgh you have to go here
