Delicious Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding! We were able to have our Sunday roast later in the evening which was nice since many end earlier in the day. Some of the better pudding I’ve had as well!

Very quaint place off the main area of town. Seemed to have a good number of locals. The very attentive Scottish ladies serving were a delight. The fish and chips were the best I have had in a long time. Prices were fair and appetizer portions large.

The food was delicious, the spicy fries were a wonderful surprise, I will say I really enjoy spicy food and the peppers definitely had a nice kick. The cullen skink was good as well, the portions pictured are the smaller size and we still had quite a bit of food.

Food was delicious, we ordered the Cullen Skink and the Lager Battered Haddock, both were exquisite. Vincent’s service was also really good too, he recommended us the Cullen Skink and he couldn’t have been more accurate!

Absolutely outstanding ….. from start to finish, from service to food this establishment delivers an exceptional experience, quite frankly with food that is worthy of a Michelin recommendation. The cullen skink was absolutely superb available in both starter and main course sizes, the haddock was wonderfully smoked and the creamy broth was stunning. Followed by the hake, with another wonderfully rich sauce, cut through by the lovely poached rhubarb, these dishes were culinery works of art with deep and rich flavours cooked to perfection. We both went in for desserts and the vanilla parfait stood out although all of the menu items sounded delicious. This dessert was in my mind one of the best I have ever experienced. The use of tarragon in the white chocolate cream with the beautiful parfait was a revelation and elevated this from being a lovely dessert to something really special. Jen our server was chatty and happy to spend time with us without being over attentive. Timings were excellent, no slow service here yet not rushed as well. Overall one of the best dining experiences we have had in a while I would say, and certainly up there with places that charge a lot more and have stars against their name. Thank you all at The Magnum we will be back!!

really nice place, well located, in the eighteenth century district, very trendy but less historic than the royal mile or less lively than cowgate (more frequented by teenagers). the magnum features British and French cuisine (with quite refined fusions). the wine list is also good. decent choice of beers (they even have the Italian menabrea). the atmosphere is not pub-like. if you want that go elsewhere. but for dinner or lunch it is one of the best places.

We had our lunch a month ago in Magnum which is located at a relatively secluded part of New Town. It was our first time to have venison, and it was better that what we anticipated - the meat was done quite juicy and tender, though less flavourful than the other main we ordered, the slow braised beef daube. I loved the haggis beeps and tatties as well, tasty and not overwhelming strong in flavour. And they offer good dessert too. Every dishes we had was nicely presented, and really friendly service.

A short but painfully hilly walk from where I was staying... I had the haggis with neeps and tatties and a Guinness. The haggis was quite good being my first and I found the gravy accented it nicely!

Very nice restaurant, located in a very charming corner, the food was delicious, we tried the Haggis and the Chicken Supreme, both weee very delicious, full of flavors and very beautiful presented. There is a nice pub/restaurant atmosphere, with lots going on. The staff is friendly and attentive.
