Fabulous food and great service. The cauliflower wings and haggis spring rolls were both fantastic starters. Followed by a perfectly cooked rare fillet steak and sublime fish and chips. Lemon sorbet to finish was a delightful end. Will definitely be back.

The mussels were very delicious β€” fresh and with a tasty sauce. I highly recommend them to everyone. The waitress was always smiling. I really enjoyed having lunch here and hope to come back.

I love this gorgeous restaurant. I feel sad I didn’t discover this place while at university in Edinburgh but I have now for a few years. Every single visit has been perfect. Last night, my Uni friends and I had dinner there and the food and drinks were delicious as always. The staff were fantastic and so relaxed and attentive. Would and have recommended to everyone I know.

Had a superb dinner here. We hadn't booked so we were pleased to be able get a table. The staff were really welcoming, very chatty and helpful and the food was superb. We had a bottle of the house wine (a blended white that didn't say much useful on the label) which was reasonably priced and very easy drinking (I'd guess at a viognier but who know). To start we had the beef cheeks (falling apart, plenty of gravy on the side) and the haggis spring rolls (which also went well with the gravy). For mains we had the chicken ballotin - very Mediterranean, delicious spring onion pave potatoes - and the beef bourgignon which was rich and robust with very tender beef and delicious garlic mashed potatoes. I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was the best I've ever had - one of my favourite desserts and they absolutely nailed it. The tables are well spaced and the background music is low enough so that is easy to have a conversation at normal volume level. All round a fabulous, low key place that I would recommend for a relaxed and delicious meal.

This is one of the popular cafes in Edinburgh Bruntsfield area. We came by for lunch on a weekday, and were surprised by the wait time for a table. Best to have reservation. Food quality was disappointing. The beef brisket sandwiches came out less than optimal. The beef was stringy and tough.. I mostly pull and cut them up to eat. The matured cheddar could do a bit more. The hummus and chargrilled vegetable sandwich was dominated by the sweet onion chutney, which IMHO didn’t balance well in overall flavors.

Managed to get a walk in table on a very busy Sunday morning for a quick coffee & carrot cake. Great service, great atmosphere & great food. Only comment would be that cake a bit pricey compared to other places. Will be back to try cooked food soon.

Second time I've chosen fish here and seriously, the chef knows how to cook it to perfection. Hake was moist and succulent under a PERFECT crispy skin, veggies delicious. Shouldn't have had the sticky toffee pudding to follow, can hardly move from sheer gluttony but I'm just going to lie like a beached whale and savour the memory of every mouthful until I've digested it!

Fantastic restaurant in Edinburgh. Lively city with a lot of good restaurants (I guess) but Cafe Grande was superbe. We had an excellent full Scottish breakfast with delicious (best in twelve days of Scotland) Black pudding. We came back for dinner, had ao. a salmon/mussels dish with an excellent green Thai curry with a perfect level of spices. And the crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e with the salted caramel tasted heavenly. It can make you feel so happy, such a good dinner. Extra credits to the owner, Robbie, who really is passionate about his restaurant and credits to his very attentive staff. The main secret: use fresh local produce and cook with love! And there is plenty of fish and β€˜fruit de mer’ to be found within arm’s reach, in Scotland. Whenever in Edinburgh, go the extra mile and visit Cafe Grande!!

Wow! Fantastic and friendly service. The food is amazing. The haggis spring rolls are a revalidation. Need to come back ASAP.

We recently went during the festive season. The staffs were lovely. The Scottish breakfast was good, though the portion was on the smaller side for the price of Β£13.00++. Unlike other soups on menu, the soup of the day e.i. potato leek soup were served without bread. We had to order additional bread for Β£2.75. The coffee was good though.
