Great place to meet and eat and/or drink. Food is fantastic, something for everyone. Portions are ample. But please be careful when stepping out of the pub as 2 of my friends fell down badly from their step. We have also heard this is an occurrence with others having a fall. The step should be painted whited as you cannot see in the dark. The step is not a general size so unexpected

Definitely recommend this lovely pub. Traditional English pub with amazing selection of meals. Incredible value for money. Affordable prices. Option to have a small plate for some of the meals which is very accommodating. Hearty homemade meals - plates were full to the brim! Relaxing atmosphere and the whole place had such a comforting feel to it. This pub had such character and the staff were also so friendly and approachable. A hidden gem - whether you’re a local or visiting nearby. We had Steak and Ale pie which came with a variety of vegetables and large portion of chips. Also had the lasagne with chips (can choose to have either chips or garlic bread) Tasty salad and an abundance of chips. All amazing quality and fast service.

Tourist staying around the area then and we chose to dine at this place 2 nights consecutively. Service staffs were friendly. The meal was delicious, with tender meat and a tangy, flavourful sauce. After a long day out, a hearty meal was what we needed.

Nice tidy pub prices of beers are pretty good for locality Β£4.60 for a kronenbourg, staff are polite and friendly, food portion size for some meals is very other dishes it was terrible the garlic mushrooms in a white in sauce well it lacked mushrooms there wete actually only two mushrooms, the sauce was really nice such a shame, the prawn cocktail was watery there was some sauce in the bottom of the glass which was mixed in the water, not appetising at all, hunters chicken was very nice excellent portion size it was tasty and good value for money, the mixed grill was a bit hit mix the meat was ok all cut very thin, the steak n ale pie was tasty goid value also, service was fantastic staff were polite attentative and realky well organised. If there were a bit more attention to detail in the food area especially potion sizing it the joliffe would of made 5 stars.

We had a hearty pub lunch here. There was a great variety of choice on the menu and specials board. It took us a while to choose from all the options. There are a few vegetarian dishes. The portion sizes are very generous. There is also an option of a smaller size meal on some dishes. I always find a good test is how good the chips are when eating out. The chips here were home cooked and amazing. I normally can’t eat them all but I finished the lot. The cod was very good. All four of us enjoyed our meals. The prices here are very reasonable. There was such a warm and inviting feel to the place and great atmosphere. It seems this pub is popular with the locals. Very good and friendly service from the staff. There is a dog friendly section you should ask for when you book. We had decided to do the Kilmersdon colliery incline walk before having a pub lunch. Such a lot of history here. Also the land of Jack and Jill with a well outside the local school. A really lovely place with some great walks and views. Then this lovely local pub to finish up in after your walk.
