If you’re boldly just cancel/ reduce amount of classes available anywhere- you should be automatically giving people access to the other gyms, or returning people’s money. Its disrespectful how you treat customers and charge same or more each month, for less time and less quality! On the verge of leaving you very soon. Enough is enough. You have people to think about better business model than what we have been reporting for years.

The gym can get quite overcrowded, but that’s not really an issue for me, as people are generally easy to swap with, which is nice. I’ve also had a great PT experience with Jamie over the past couple of months (he’s been fantastic and has really helped me with my progress). However that positivity gone as I had a very unpleasant experience on 7 Dec 2025 morning. It was a quiet Sunday morning when a staff member approached me and told me (quite loudly and in front of others) to put down my phone. I was shocked and couldn’t react properly. I admit I was using my phone more than I should, but the whole reason I come in on Sunday mornings is to have a relaxed session with proper rest time. There were also identical weights still available on the rack, and other benches were still free, so no one was waiting on the equipment I was using. If he had approached me in a friendly or polite manner, I wouldn’t have had any issue at all. Instead, I felt completely disrespected. (Edit) It seems I can’t reply your answer, so I’ll put it here: What left me uncomfortable was not the reminder about phone use, though my understanding is that PureGym does not have a specific rule limiting the amount of time a member can use a single piece of equipment to 20–25 minutes, as long as others are not being prevented from accessing it. You mention that the interaction was polite and conversational, though from my perspective it felt louder than expected, especially given how quiet the gym was at the time. Rather than approaching me closely for a normal, discreet conversation, you spoke to me from around 3-5 away, which made the exchange feel public and unnecessarily confrontational. Had the approach been gentler, I would have had no issue at all. Anas ex-gym member

Due to my work schedule, I don’t get to come to the gym as often as I used to - a great constant has been John’s pump & strike classes on a Sunday evening, a great back-to-back combo! The music is fun, and I really appreciate that he does the whole class along with us. Sad to hear that he won’t be teaching anymore, but I really hope a similar set of classes replace them!

I have been a member of this gym for over two years. The gym room is quite large, and the equipment is generally good. I also like that it’s open 24 hours, which makes it very convenient. However, I would like to suggest a few improvements. Some of the equipment has not been updated for a long time. I think it would be great if the gym could replace or improve the boxing bag(maybe), the Ab Crunch Machine, and a few other machines. I noticed only one or two new pieces of equipment were added. Overall, it’s a nice gym, but a few updates would make it even better.

Located close to the center of Edinburgh it's easy to find. The gym is clean, tidy with a helpful staff. The whole gym is on one floor. Had a very good workout. The atmosphere was very good. The equipments are good and was nice not seeing free weights especially dumbells left everywhere. Edinburgh Castle. If coming to Edinburgh for work going to use the gym again. The Puregym app makes getting a day pass easy.

Very average gym, typical of what you'd expect for PureGym. The focus is primarily on machines and classes. Although it has squat racks and free-weights, they're under-provisioned and almost always occupied, so it's not the best for strength training. Also the gym isn't always prompt to fix broken machines. Like any gym, this place gets very busy during peak times, e.g. 6pm. Ultimately it's a very average experience. It'll get the job done for most, but compared to a gym like what the University of Edinburgh provides, it's lightyears behind both in terms of facilities, and value for money.

Good gym. It's got everything you need and the staff are friendly and helpful if you ever have an issue. Only problem is it's a bit too overcrowded at peak times (5-7pm). Also there's no wifi

Great gym, just too packed, so full. Also another water fountain would be nice. Machines are clean. I like the cardio area never too full, clean and in good conditions. I just wish the elípticals and stairclimber looked the other way. The classes are cool, high energy and good music. The Scottish accent is a bit hard for me to understand but the instructor moves with you so you’re not completely lost. Trainers are pretty cool. The changing room is clean which is always a plus.

In general it is a good gym but I am struggling with the internet. They really have a network problem. Also, the majority of us use their own phone for the music. So I think that it has no point to put the music so loudly. Many thanks for improving these aspects in the future!
