We love this pub, we're regulars and frequently go with our toddler. Very nice food, cheaper than other pubs in the areas and very nice outdoor area.

Christmas lunch- It was a very large meal, piping hot. Lovely turkey and tasty stuffing ball, crispy potatoes and lots of veg. Don't have any breakfast

My dog tried to walk into the kitchen. Chef stopped it happening and let me know what happened. 5 minutes later he brought out a tray of sausages for him. Good bloke. Good service. Bar staff are extremely hospitable as well. 5 stars all round

What a gem hidden in plain sight! An impulsive visit for a wholesome meal. We had an awesome lunch with really tasty food and fantastic friendly service. Great prices too. Loved the huge beer garden out the back. Will definitely be back.

I recently moved to Bedminster but come back to Ashley Down to visit the Royal Oak. Dog-friendly and good options of beers/IPAs on draught. Great beer garden as well which has heaters so can be used in the winter as well.

The pub is good generally, but we waited 50 minutes for food. The Sunday roast and came without any gravy. The roast potatoes were obviously factory prepared and the vegetables too. The portions were good however. Male toilets required some maintenance. Apart from that the pub has a great beer garden and is very child friendly. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks too.

The Oak is a great pub. I've been visiting this pub in its various forms for the last 25 years and this version is my favourite. The drink selection is spot on and the staff treat you like old friends. Lia is always very welcoming and friendly to everyone, as is everyone else in the team. Food is very good, and the large beer garden at the back is well thought out and suitable for all. Pricing is great for this part of Bristol. I visit at least once a week, so for me they're definitely doing something right.
