The most perfect pub. Always want to find a pub like this, bursting with interesting, friendly characters, it’s comforting and simple but free and open minded. Me and my boyfriend sat here and drunk multiple rounds, every drink served with kindness. Really lovely community spirit and I had just had one of my favourite days in my life and sitting here for a few hours with him in this lovely space made it even more incredible. Will always remember this day and this pub xx

Popped in to the pub side today after seeing many rave reviews about its Sunday Roasts. Arrived early and there were spaces inside! #result! Walked in and the reception was abysmal. Red flag 1 We were a group of 5 adults and 2 under the age of 3. Got told to sit anywhere we liked but couldn’t sit on the tables at the back because it’s where the food comes swinging by and could move tables to be in front of the fire and staff didn’t seem to care much about helping accommodate us. It was suggested that we could sit outside in 10 degree temperatures under the heaters… Red flag 2 Ordered food and paid, after spending £80+, the barman just turned around and asked who was next. Not even a “thanks, that’s all done.” - Red flag 3 Food started coming out the kitchen and we waited for 40 minutes, seeing tables that had ordered after us getting served food before us..? Red flag 4 One plate of food arrived and got told because that meal had been paid for separately, the others were on a different ticket and come out separately.. No dramas! They only were paid for minutes between each other - It can’t be much longer… Red flag 5 More tables that arrived after us got served food and we asked where the rest of the tables were. Red flag 6 The waitress told us it was going to be another 20 minute. How is that possible?! My card immediately followed the next card through the payment terminal? How can there there be a 20 minute gap between the food?! Red flag 7 The waitress scuttled off and came back to say our ticket had been moved up the order and was now next. Great! But no apology in the slightest - Red flag 8 The food arrived, and it was hot but massively underwhelming. The lamb was like waffer thin ham, one roast potato, gravy as thin as water and veg that looked like it was being stretched to stop the food from running out. Red flag 9 Really disappointing and don’t understand where all the rave reviews have come from. I could cook a better lamb roast at home without paying £16 a plate for it. Utter shambles. Horrible unfriendly staff, no care or pride in the food served or customer service given. Won’t be back - ever. Don’t ruin your weekend for this place. Tons of better options in and around Bristol. This one is a dud.

Great place for the whole family, tucked away next to a community cafe and actual farm. Very dog (and human) friendly. Given how popular it was on a Sunday lunchtime we were advised we would have an hour or so wait but the time flew past. Six stars

Can’t get over how delicious the roast was. Soooo well-seasoned and the perfect portion. 1000% the best roast I’ve ever had! Gorgeous location and lovely people working there too.

Always a great place to visit in the sunshine after dancing all night or a decent walk around Purdown. The bar staff were proper sound and the food/ menu was delicious. Shout out to all the Ravers that remember DJ Dereks legendary sunday sets here in the 90s

This place is a top 10 for Bristol. The location is odd when you look at it on a map but when you walk through the community it's so cool! An amazing farming community around such a cool and friendly pub. I'm definitely gonna go back for the food, drink, and locations

Came on Sunday for the vegan roast. Unfortunately most of the veg was very under cooked and still hard. The gravy was watery and the wellington is a very small piece. Disappointing as our friend visited a year ago and said it was brilliant.

Lovely pub, great staff. Pizza was delicious but could have been bigger! ❤️ Still one of my favourite places in Bristol.

The staff here are lovely, the outdoor space is really lush on a summers day. The roast is really disappointing. We keep giving it another chance and hoping they've gone back to their previous standard but we're let down every time. This used to be my favourite place for a Sunday roast but the last couple of years I've been disappointed every time I've had a roast here. The most recent roast was today, the veg selection was much better than the last few times but for £16 a roast we got two small bits of lamb that were the same size as thin cut bacon. I just don't think waiting for over an hour and paying that much for a plate of veg is okay. Especially as I know what they used to serve. The gravy was nothing to rave about , pretty watery and bland and the cauliflower cheese was a joke - £6 for two pieces of cauliflower. Such a shame really. The vegan roast had less veg than the meat or veggie ones and overall looked much smaller. There are much much better places to go for a roast in Bristol. They've updated their menu mon-sat and thank god as I was served a half raw chicken burger just before the menu revamp. Went for a pizza recently and it was really really good but we waited close to an hour for the pizza then as well and we were the only table who had ordered food (Monday afternoon).

Would’ve been quicker to have grown the carrots and slaughtered a cow than wait for the roast dinner…. After over an hour of waiting we were advised that we still had at least 30 minutes until our food was ready. Staff were friendly and apologetic but we were refunded and 3 of us left hungry and disappointed!
