Walked in with friends and guy behind the bar was immediately rude to us and said we were rude for not saying hello to him (he said hi, my friend said hi we are here for some food, and he said ‘normally people say hello back when they walk in because that the polite thing to do but okay’. We proceeded to sit down and then decided to leave as they were so rude and he made a sarcastic ‘thanks guys!’ On the way out

What used to be a great place for cider I would recommend to anyone is now a crappy student dive that can barely keep stock of their menu, and hires progressively more amateur bartenders. The company that owns this place & others is spread exceptionally thin and it really shows.

This is one of my favourite spots for watching rugby matches, especially for Six Nations. The ancient is great, fun and respectful. Just book a time with time, it is very popular! The spot is so convenient and connected in Gloucester Rd.

Of a recent visit I will sing, To The Cider Press, a wondrous thing, Where bar staff did their duties well, And served us drinks with a merry bell. Lucy, a jewel in their crown, In cider knowledge, she did abound, Her recommendations, pure delight, Like nectar to the taste and sight. A friendly smile she did impart, And welcomed us with open heart, Like an angel from above, Her presence filled us with love. The bar staff all were truly fine, Attentive, kind, with wit and shine, Their service, like a symphony, Was music to our ears, so free. If you're looking for a place to rest, Where cider flows at its best, The Cider Press is where to be, For friendly staff and revelry. So raise a glass to Lucy and crew, For their service, pure and true, In The Cider Press, may they thrive, For they are worth more than gold, alive.

If you're a cider lover this is place is a must! Huge variety of ciders on tap, you can get three 1/3 pints tastings for £3.50 so you have a great opportunity to taste as much as you can handle. And the bonus part is food! I cannot recommend more.

What a pub. I came in with low expectations and a desire for booze. I was met with exceptional service from Lucy and much booze was provided. Her pints were pulled to perfection and a great time was had. 11/10 would recommend. Also drink gladiators, poured by Lucy, you’ll have a terrific time.

Great place to play pool, decent pints especially on a Thursday for £3.50. Was served by Izzy, she recommended the Apples and Pears cider, which I really enjoyed. She gave exemplary service and made sure my Grandad was comfortable. Will be back soon!

Walking down Gloucester Road on a rainy afternoon, I decided a cold, refreshing pint was needed. Well what can I say, I’m glad I stepped foot in Cider Press. The warm friendly welcome I got made me extend my stay from not just one pint but three! My visit was made even more memorable by the happy, energetic Izzy working behind the bar pouring pints with a big warming smile. I will definitely be returning and hope that Izzy will be working on my return!
