I lost my passport in this pub and they found it. They kept it safe for me until I could pick it up. Also, great service! Everything was perfect.

This was THE worst hospitality experience. We had a reservation for a large group and when asked when we arrived, they said “uh I don’t know where you’re table is” one of the other bartenders told us to go to the corner where 3 tables were pushed together. When we went to order food, they didn’t have 5+ menu items and then told us they didn’t have a single vegetable in ANY of the meals. They had no idea how to refund anything, super unhelpful and looked at us with blank stares. Do not go here.

I came here for a bottomless brunch on a Thursday evening with partner, and overall, extremely poor. As soon as we arrived, we were informed that they had no cook, and that the menu was extremely limited. So, knowing that either the bar staff was making the food, or that it was frozen pizza, it still took 45 minutes to arrive!! The service was also quite poor, with simple cocktails taking over TEN minutes to arrive. I had booked this table over a week ago, and was hoping to have a lovely evening, but was ultimately left with nothing but disappointment. And to top of off, there were barely anyone here at all, maybe they had caught on about how poor an establishment this place was before I had!

The Birkett Tap is a spacious and lively pub with plenty to offer. It has two well-maintained pool tables, a darts area, and a solid selection of beers on tap. The atmosphere is relaxed yet social, making it a great spot for a game or a casual drink. Definitely worth a visit if you’re after a mix of good drinks and entertainment.

I posted my original review 2 years ago and it still relevant as of Feb-23. Since the refurb and name change, I thought they'd improved the place quite well with a more inviting decor and beer range. However on my latest visit, staff didn't know how to work the till, how to place orders, understand the menu, or know to honour their offers. Most of the things we asked for on the menu and drinks were off, it would have been quicker to tell us what was available. The food was fairly rancid, burn and overcooked, and delivered a bit too quick. Music and TV unnecessary loud. Everyone shouting to get heard. The rebrand clearly an excuse to hike prices with no improved quality. Sad to see the place slipping back into old their ways.

Visited 12/2/2023 @8.30pm wasn’t sure as pub pretty empty… Went to the bar and was greeted by a very unhappy looking woman… I made a comment about having a cocktail after looking at the menu she looked at me and said “we ain’t doing cocktails “ She could have said this before I had looked … we then decided what we wanted she for out drinks didn’t ask me how much lemonade I wanted in my gin No please or thank you…. We will not be coming back Tables were sticky! What a poor response from an owner of a business no wonder most of the reviews are poor.!

Poor service. Poor food. Poor experience. Waited a long time at the bar to be served despite it being quiet on a mid afternoon. Limited food options as a lot of items on the menu we were told were unavailable. Bar staff seemed inexperienced and didn’t seem to know how to use the system efficiently making being served even slower. 4 of us on a table and took 45 minutes for the food to come with each of our food coming out at different times. Ordered peri peri chicken. The chips were cold and sweetcorn was black burnt so sent the food back. Food was left on our table for over an hour once we had finished.

Went for a brunch with 00s dj and was soooo good! Lots of drinks included and food was really good quality. Especially enjoyed the service from Kevin and the waitress with people hair (didn’t get her name!) We would all definitely come back!
