Such a beautiful and historic pub! I had a wonderful time here. The lady behind the bar (sorry I didn’t catch her name) was incredibly kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Really nice traditional style pub, plenty of wood panelling and beams. Length of room inside with various rooms leading to each other. Also with seating outside. Sam Smiths beers and lagers available. Well worth a visit.

The oldest pub in Newport circa 1530. It's dimly lit with high backed wooden seats and little booths. Oak beams in places and a warm inviting atmosphere. It's a Samuel Smith's pub with old pumps on the bar and is also featured in the 2023 good bear guide. On the 1st Thursday of the month at 2pm there is a local history talk by a local resident. I loved this pub in the heart of Newport and also very close to the the railway station.

Just love this pub. No annoying screens or piped music. Good beer selection and you can usually find someone to talk to. It will be a shame when the day comes for Rob and Julie to hang up their hats but let's hope that's a long time coming.

Beautiful historic pub with atmosphere to spare! Good variety of beers on tap, including cask ales, and a very nice traditional pub food menu. We had the steak and ale pie, the fish and chips, and one of us, sigh, had a burger. For dessert, it was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. It was all quite good and the service was excellent!

Visited for the first time last week and wasn't disappointed. Great atmosphere and a good quality pint at very reasonable prices. There was a poetry reading going on which both surprised and delighted us.

A proper pub. Excellent beers on tap, friendly staff and a superb, relaxed atmosphere. I wish more pubs were like this, rather than these terrible generic gastro pubs you see.

Just been in here earler. Been having a pint here whenever I visit Newport, friendly staff and a lovely Tudor-Style building. And of course the Samuel Smith drinks are great!
