Can't speak highly enough of Animac vets. Marissa was just the best. I could call her for anything for my girl Charlie and nothing was too much trouble. Just brilliant. Vet Sam was so good with Charlie I just can't recommend them enough. Thank you so much all at annimac your the best!!!

Samantha was so professional and offered such good advice. She was so kind, compassionate and sincerely caring when we had our sweet girl put to sleep. It was the hardest decision but the right one, and having Samantha’s knowledge helped me to understand it was time to let go. I cannot rate her service higher.

My dog was old and too ill to carry on and after months of various treatments to give him comfortable end of life, it was clear he was in too much pain. This particular vet is normally at another practice outside of Edinburgh. I have seen her before and felt grateful she was the one to support Ben and me through the process. She was truly wonderful, very gentle, gave plenty of time alone with Ben to say goodbye, checked on me later and sent a card afterwards. He was so peaceful and looked relieved to be given first some sort of tranquillisers and then just fell asleep peacefully. I didn’t cry, it felt like absolutely the right thing to do, perhaps I waited too long even. It’s so hard to know how much pain dogs are actually in. I have been dreading that moment for months and now it felt so peaceful and ok. There was a lot of respect in how the situation was managed by the team. It’s been a year and a half and I still think of that time and how much I appreciate the vet’s manner. The whole practice was in tune, communicating quietly with each other and paying attention. Thank you. I am sticking with this practice and my new dog Kora adores all the vets and assistants there. They are a kind bunch. It’s not an easy job.

Unsatisfactory and unprofessional service. I was advised to bring my cat 45 min after taking Gabapentin, a drug used to calm down animals in order to facilitate a blood draw. It was obvious when my cat arrived at the practice that the drug had not yet taken any effect, but I was offered as the next option a general anaesthesia for an addition Β£100 and not to wait longer for the drug to take effect. Two hours after the drug was taken, my cat was obviously affected by the drug as she was then unable to walk, is now nearly 8hr after the intake still very drowsy. A quick search on the Internet confirms that "Gabapentin takes effect quickly, typically within one to two hours". I cannot comprehend why the vet advised the minimal possible time for the drug to take action for us to come and why a more expensive solution, with potentially greater side effects, was immediately offered instead of the common-sense advice to wait for the drug to act. When I called the practice to speak with the clinic manager, I was told that I declined the treatment, which is untrue. I declined an additional general anaesthesia as the next stage forward but was obviously keen to proceed with a blood test that I had paid for in advance. To discuss this for 5 min with the vet did cost me an additional Β£49, without informing me of this additional cost. On and all I spent over Β£100 for 2 short encounters with the vet and a drug that was given with the wrong recommendations and consequently no service was provided. I was not offered an apologies or refund for the poor service when I call to complaint but instead was made feel responsible claiming that it was my choice to decline the treatment. This experience left me with the impression that the practice functions essentially to favour costly services over primary care.

On Wednesday 10.03 my 18-month-old chihuahua died in this clinic from a very simple tooth extraction procedure. He was put under anaesthesia and stopped breathing before the procedure began. As a person who does not have advanced knowledge but loves his dog, I asked to do all the research possible. I am aware of the risks of anaesthesia, but the risk is small. That's why I asked for all the necessary research. After all, it was the professionals that I thought. The vet talked about testing the blood and organs, including the heart. However, the heart was examined only by hearing !!! How is it possible that during general anaesthesia with such a small breed, the vet does not recommend a heart examination ?? !!! After all, you cannot detect a heart defect by hearing !!! Do you know why? Because the doctor assumed that it should be successful because it usually works! Why the doctor did not recommend It for the additional cost of a heart examination to rule out the defect. The fact that the dog is young and seemingly healthy does not exempt you from having a heart test just in case. If he had done it, the defect would not have allowed for this operation and the dog would be alive. He would have two teeth more, but he would be alive. All the other tests came out fine so it must have been a heart defect. The veterinarian said that he did not rule out a heart defect. Unfortunately, after the fact! Remember my opinion is connected with emotions. But you people will be on the same emotional side as I am today. For me, my dog is the only one and unique for the clinic is another pet. Think a thousand times where you give your pet and to whom. If in doubt, don't do it. Ask carefully what test they will do for your pets and twhy, it turns out that you need to have no less knowledge than a vet and not be afraid to use it.

I've used Animac vets for a for the last couple of years and I've always had good service for my 3 dogs and cat. All the staff are kind, caring and very helpful. My dog had pups last year and Amanda was looking after us. She went through the whole journey from the scan to the pups first vaccinations. She is very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and gave good advice. Prices are competitive with other vets. I would recommend this vet. Only problem is, it can be difficult to find a parking space sometimes.

I use Animac for my cat. All the staff are very friendly and helpful whilst always remaining professional and focused. I never have any problem getting an appointment to suit me despite working full time. I registered with them on recommendation from a friend and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
