DON’T and if you can change - CHANGE. There is a clear difference between β€œold English country charm” and simply β€œdirty old English.” Unfortunately, Forthay fell into the latter category, compounded by a poor breakfast offering. I cannot fathom why people give good reviews, where do they live???

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay; made to feel very welcome and really comfortable in every respect. Smashing breakfast and a good selection of books in the snug. Many thanks.

Unfortunately we had a nasty incident occur on our arrival. The Host's two dogs came running to the front gate and proceeded to bite a walker in our group. There were no signs advising to be cautious of the dogs so it was a complete shock. The Host showed no concern for our friend, apart from offering wet wipes and Savlon cream. No apologies were given and no follow-up conversation the next morning to see that she was alright. Breakfast was also very meagre in size. The worst one on the Cotswolds Walk. A very disappointing stay.

I had a lovely stay at the B&B, really affordable. If you are a walker, incredible walks on the doorstep, and the hosts gave some good local tips. Very comfortable memory foam mattress and luxury bed linen, and a good breakfast. 10/10 for the coffee - something hard to find in the UK. Thank you!

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and it was a fantastic one. Charles was a lovely and attentive host, and a very nice chap. The beds were comfortable and the house was cosy and clean. Breakfast was delicious, especially the sausages and eggs (fresh from the chickens in the garden!) we would certainly recommend this bnb to anyone staying in the area!

Loved our recent stay here and made use of the great location! We used as a jumping off point to visit Oxford, the Cotswolds, Bath and Bristol. Lovely to be able to bring your dog as well. From the comfy bed to the delicious breakfast and friendly service, and the charming historic house, it was a quintessential English stay.

A very warm welcome from Charles and Deb, a nice cup of tea in the snug was very pleasant on arrival. Beautiful period cottage full of character and tastefully decorated, dog friendly to! My room was very spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom very clean and functional. My bathroom wasn’t en-suite, just a few steps down the hall, not inconvenient at all. I’ll certainly return next time I’m in the area.

Lovely 2 night stay. Excellent food including one evening meal. Superb breakfast with Deborah's granola and meat from local farms. Comfortable room, slept well. Enjoyed fantastic dog walking on the routes given on the website. Deborah and Charles made us and our dog very welcome.

We attended an event at the Ancient Ram Inn so unfortunately only stayed here for a short overnight stay. We have stayed in many places around the UK due to work commitments and this has to be by far the best B&B we have stayed in, even if only for a short time. The owners and their son were lovely hosts, very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely and freshly made, and we were offered a 10am seating slot which was perfect for us. The room was clean and spacious with tasteful furnishings, the most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in, and the view from the bay window looking out over the garden/fields was beautiful and relaxing. I am just sad that we didn’t have more time, I will definitely return here in the future. Thank you for a fabulous stay ☺️

An absolutely wonderful bed breakfast! Charles and Debs were amazing hosts, the cottage itself is lovely. Really nice breakfast and dinner. There were 2 of us and our golden retriever- all of us were made to feel so welcome. We had a terrible journey to get there and had not been able to organise dinner - charles booked us into the local pub who also were very accommodating with our dog. Lovely area and lots of fantastic walks. This was the first holiday with our dog and we will definitely be going back. Could not recommend Forthay bed and breakfast highly enough!
