TERRIBLE SERVICE and RUDE STAFF During check-in, I was informed that our room was located in the kind of basement level. Staff member insisted that the room was simply on a lower level due to the slope of the land. I explained that I have a medical condition and cannot stay in a basement room, but she kept insisting that it was not in the basement. When we went to the room in the adjacent building, we saw that it was indeed below ground level and very damp. I went back to request a room change, but the receptionist continued to argue with me instead of helping. I mentioned that I had already informed the hotel about this issue through Booking.com, but when we checked, the message did not appear to have been received. Rather than trying to resolve the situation, your staff member simply said, β€œIt’s not my fault.” The young lady at the reception was quite rude. Eventually, and with obvious reluctance, she managed to find another room for us. She seemed more interested in arguing than assisting. Additionally, there were dirty plates and food leftovers on the reception desk β€” a very unprofessional and unpleasant sight. The receptionist herself was eating from a container at the desk, which gave the impression that she did not want to assist us because she was trying to return to her meal. Staff should take their meals in appropriate areas and at appropriate times. The second room we were given was on the top floor. It was poorly ventilated and filled with old furniture. Many items in the bathroom were rusty. In short, we were very disappointed with our stay.

The hotel is very cosy and superbly located. It is in Clifton village so close to some lovely cafΓ©s, restaurants and shops. It is also a short walk away from Clifton Bridge. There's a bus stop just outside the hotel and you can easily get the bus into town and to the train station. The staff are friendly and accomodating. I hope to return to this hotel

Great location. Room was spacious but dated. Bed was huge and very comfy. Breakfast was a disappointment - told to pre-order to ensure food comes out quickly. We booked for 9:20am, it took 35minutes for one slice of toast to come out and a further 10minutes for our cooked breakfast. It wasn’t busy, just us and two other tables occupied - they also waited a long time for food and ended up asking where it was!

The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom was spacious with a great shower. Mostly, the staff were very attentive and kind! I had left my AirPods behind and they were so quick to help get them back to me. Greatly appreciated! Would definitely stay again, Rebecca

Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and local parks. This is also a dog friendly hotel which is great! A doggy bowl was provided but I brought a doggy bed. Chose a single room which was cosy and adequate for 1. I had a a very peaceful night's sleep and the bed, although single, was very comfy! The only downside was that the room was located on the 3rd floor with no lifts available, so next time I will definitely choose differently! In addition, the car park was full when I arrived, but I was able to park directly in front for a Β£10 fee for a parking permit which was valid for over a week. Unfortunately, parking can be difficult in Clifton Village, so I did not mind. I will definitely be returning for the location especially.

The receptionist was lovely, the room was affordable and very clean. The only criticism I have is the accessibility- they do not have a lift and staircases are narrower as you go up. Overall a nice stay.

Useful location near the town. Beds were very soft (prefer firm) windows only open a fraction so summer may be an issue. Tiny TV. There is parking at the rear but it is limited and charged extra. Ordered breakfast to take away at set time, but they cook it when you come down so had to wait 15 mins and you only get 1 sausage. For the price 1 sausage isn't great! And what's the point of selecting a time if it's not ready?

The saving grace of this hotel is its location in Clifton Village. A short walk from good pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. The beds are pretty comfy too. But don't expect luxury. The rooms are really tired, and there are paint scratches, worn surfaces and very thin curtains everywhere. Our room had about an inch gap at the bottom, so it never got dark in the room due to light flooding in from the hall. Reception is really only manned in the afternoon and evening, and the key system very old so you often need to find someone to replace the cards when you accidentally put them near a phone. Most concerning is the lack of security. I arrived back about 1.30am from a party, and the front doors were wide open, no security needed to get into the building. The front doors didn't seem to be autoclosing. The arrangements for breakfast is frankly odd, as you seem to have to select a specific time, but there was confusion about whether there would even be a chef to offer a cooked breakfast. And for all the worn items, and lack of security, you will still be paying a high price for rooms. Clearly no investment by owners in a long long time.

Super friendly service. Rooms are ok. Rates are cheap. Location in the middle of Clifton, near great shopping and restaurants. 10 minutes walking from the Brunel bridge.

The room was small, but we had booked a small double, so it was to be expected. It was clean and the location of the hotel is great. A short walking distance from Clifton Village. Lots of lovely places to eat, shop and drink. It's a wonderful part of Bristol to visit.
