Stopped by for a pint, decent Guinness from there, lovely staff & they have sports on if you're looking to catch a game.
Popped in for a drink on a nice day and found it lovely Old fashioned pub with lots of character Also has a nice beer garden when weather is nice Also dog freindly in bar and beer garden Guinness 7 out of 10
The variance of the 1 and 5 star reviews tells you something is up here. It's unfriendly, the rooms are basic, small and noisy and it's one of the worst pubs with rooms I've been to for the price it charges, avoid.
So, arrived at the pub on new years eve, invited by seven different sets of friends and family. Saw the sign outside stating that it was a ticket event and checked with friends that it was fine to go in. Was reassured that it was OK and no tickets were made. Went in and was asked to leave by a stone faced landlady. Felt lost, deflated and unwelcome even though I was invited. Nicola is a power fan. Sadly I might have missed seeing loved ones, but had a lovely night elsewhere.
Went in here to watch the football with a few lads from work. The landlady came down 10 minutes into the game with a face like thunder, looked at us & said she’s shutting, when asked what time she replied “whenever I want, I’m tired and got kids upstairs”. We wasn’t even making noise, even if so it’s a pub not a library. Customer service was none existent we spent £40 in 20 minutes on 2 rounds of beer.. wish we just threw the money down the drain than put it in this woman’s pocket. Definitely avoid
Basically furnished largish room but spotless clean. A comfy bed. Parts of the pub date back to 1350 and are grade 1 listed. My room had Tudor plasterwork on the ceiling. Nicola the licencee is a lovely lady. I will be staying again.

Stop for light lunch ordered BLT baguette, one rasher of bacon, not much lettuce or tomatoes, pork sausage baguette, 1 sausage and charcoal that was supposed to be caramelised onions. Pint of cloudy beer and pint of cider. £23.50 won't be dashing back there then. Pity really very quaint old hotel.
We were looking for a place to have late lunch and so happy to find this pub. The food was delicious and worth the price. Their baguettes were only £6.00 but so filling.
