We recently visited Chettinad after hearing it was worth trying, but we were extremely disappointed. The service was rushed and unfriendly, and the atmosphere was loud and chaotic. The food quality was average at best. To make matters worse, we were asked to leave immediately after paying because “a large group was waiting to be seated”, despite having booked in advance and only being given 60 minutes to eat – clearly the restaurant had overbooked. This is unacceptable and completely ruined our team Christmas dinner. I will not be returning and have advised others not to visit.

Looks small from the outside, but is very homey and the food is delicious! We had the Kolli Dosa, Lamb Madras, and the Kilangu Bonda. All delicious and gone in seconds! Highly recommend making a reservation as this place is popular and does get busy. If you don't make a reservation I would get there as close to the dinner opening as possible.

Simply brilliant. The Chettinad starter platter was literally packed with flavours. Paneer dosa was great. Mysore masala dosa was amazing. Last time I had a dosa with this much flavour was in Mysore in Preethi Sagar!! The masala chai was lovely. Only criticism here would be the cups it was served in. Chai needs to be served in glass to be savoured. £53 for the shared platter, 2 dosa, 2 kingfisher beer and 2 masala chai Brilliant value for money with amazing service. Really recommended.

The restaurant offers relatively rare Indian dishes. You can also find the common Indian dishes such as flatbreads and seafood, chicken, beef and pork curries. The portions may not look large, but they are actually quite filling. Different curries have different flavors. For example, the most traditional curry has a stronger spice flavor, while the mixed seafood is spicier. We tried the unique lemon rice, which was delicious and very appetizing. The flatbreads were very textured and worth a try. The store staff also provided excellent service. Overall, it is a restaurant worth visiting again.

We came to Leicester from Sheffield just to try food in Chettinad restaurant after reading the reviews. And didn't disappoint even a single bit. The food was really tasty and the person who served us today is kind and courteous. People like him are the reason why the restaurant is so famous. I forgot to ask his name(young chap). Please pass on our appreciation to him. Thank you Chettinad restaurant

Very lovely place for Indian food. Extremely friendly staff. I ordered a seafood Thali. Some dishes in it were a little spicy for me but they were all delicious anyway. I was more than full with all that food on the plate. They have a good variety of wines but you can order only one if you are not buying bottle. I certainly will have a dinner here on my next visit to Leicester.

It’s a 5 star experience. If the food came to the table a little faster. Lots of take away delivery guys. Probably held up service but if you are patient. The flavours are great! Light on protein.

Truly authentic and quite rare South Indian cuisine. Home food far away from home. Great service, lovely staff, good ambiance. Highly recommended.
