   Lovely atmosphere in the pub but unfortunately the positives ended there. Service was quite slow, waiting staff sullen and possibly inexperienced but most of all we got mixed grill and pheasant mains and meat was extremely dry and overcooked akin to eating an old boot. Portions very small and seasonal veg side was unremarkable and bland i.e. just microwaved and no seasoning, butter etc. Overall very disappointed for the price paid.

   Outstanding service from start to finish the young lady who was our waitress who looked after us on our visit was exceptional. We called in for my partners birthday and so gladx we did it was game week both of or favourites the venison and lobster surf and turf was a real delight all the food was cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault any part of our visit

   A stunning, stunning pub! I used to work around the corner in Esholt 10 years ago and was able to visit for some work drinks then but the food menu always looked so tempting. I returned after a decade and it is just as gorgeous, inside and out, with it's rich history & ambience, and luxurious decor. Nice drinks selection but really the food menu is a winner. I couldn't decide between so many dishes, I will return to try the burrata & peaches, and the scallops. And finally, a restaurant that understands the ratio of pâté to bread! Most places give you a giant lump of pâté with barely any bread but not here; they get it! The sea bass was scrumptious, perfectly cooked with crispy skin, paired with the tastiest crushed potatoes/mash I've ever had and a beautiful lemon & caper butter. This was the 2 courses for £18.95 which I thought was very good value. The roast beef sandwich was also cooked to perfection - no chewy, dry meat here - pink, succulent beef with lashings of onions & gravy. The only slight gripe was the chips weren't really upto the standard of the rest of the food - some burnt, some hollow, some greasy and soggy, but we still finished it all by dunking them in the lush gravy. Lastly, the service was very friendly, kind, helpful and quick. Parking is also a plenty. I personally don't enjoy being outside for too long as it's on quite a busy and windy road but they've made every effort for it to look lovely out there too. Look forward to coming back and eating my way through the menu!

   Nice large friendly pub/restaurant in Apperley Bridge. We've had a couple of family functions there. The pub is dog friendly. The staff are welcoming and very polite and friendly, good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Excellent menu, good choices of food, (can recommend the Yorkshire pudding wrap) all reasonably priced. At the moment there is quite a lot of flood defence work going on behind the pub which might be a bit noisy if sitting outside. A decent sized car park.

   Booked online for breakfast and caught a lovely sunny day so was able to sit outside on request. Ordered the Stanfield breakfast which was tasty - waitress was helpful and gave us options if there was something we wanted to adapt. Food was gorgeous, great portions & well priced for both food and drinks! Brilliant

   What a cracking find this pub was, popped in for brunch initially and got a lovely bacon and sausage sarnie for a fiver that would put any Wetherspoon's to shame. Popped back in for lunch and had one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Well worth a trip out of your way to come here and enjoy a good lunch. Pub was very busy but food arrived piping hot and took less than half an hour from ordering to arrive. It's a shame I'm only here for business as I won't be able to come back for a long time!

   Busy 3 course Sunday lunch. Very tasty and with quick, smiley service. Just a shame I asked for a slice each of beef and lamb and got two slices of lamb - but large portions and well presented. Creme Brulee was superb.
