***SHOCKING!! SEE PHOTOS, total Con, EXPENSIVE BAD FOOD AND SERVICE**** Every time I have been to TGI's in the past, we always had great service, great food at a fairly reasonable price, but plenty of it. Today was the first time I visited TGI's Newport Road, Cardiff. I'll get straight to the point.... Place looked a mess to be honest, but to be fair to the staff, it looked like it had been a very busy day as we were told the other TGI in Cardiff was closed and therefore bookings were diverted to them. We ordered 2 x TGI Sesame Chicken Strips, and kids pasta meal. 2 x refill drinks. The bill came to about £55. The Sesame Chicken came to £20 each. The food was brought out to us. Hardly any fries, smaller portion the usual chicken and it the salad consisted of just dried red cabbage. Please see photos attached, I put a photo of what is shown on TGI website compared to the cold, pathetic portion and disgusting meal that was presented to us. We did complain and we were told that they had run out of everything due to being busy. We were not told this on arrival and frankly you should have turned us away instead of serving us with the what you see in the photos. If the managers read this, how would you feel if you paid £55 for this?

We weren't allowed to order from the festive menu and utilise the kids eat free perk on the same table which I didn't find particularly reasonable. The bench we were sat at had a broken cushion which moved through most of the meal, food was reasonable although must say a little overpriced, especially the prawn cocktail. Not much atmosphere as it was pretty empty at the time, the place was pretty grubby and tired in areas internally and especially externally the last time we visited.

Not been here for almost 20 years. Last time i kicked off because their mash was powdered and they couldnt get that right. For 20 quid a main meal they should be able to boil a potato. This time was no different really. Food was nothing more than that you can get in a 2 for 1 pub or other chain. Atmoshpere was non existent. Daughters burger was dry but i didnt want to ruin the moment by sending it back so asked for a box. This was thrown onto the table. I didnt moan once the entire time as it was my girls' first time there. Unfortunately, i will make excuses and it will probably be their last. Summed up, 3 starters @ £10, 3 mains @ £20, 3 drinks and 2 desserts @ £10. Voucher for 1 dessert. £120 for the pleasure. Never again. CRAP.

My first ever visit to a TGI Friday and I was rather impressed. The staff were friendly and management came out to assist with a specific dietary concern with my guest. The food was hot and beautiful, we even met Darth Vader in the reception entrance to the restaurant. The dips are fantastic, the burger very juicy and super tasty. A definite 10/10 and look forward to returning. By the time we left the restaurant it was buzzing with nearly all tables full. A very popular restaurant in Cardiff. Many Thanks TGI Fridays even on a Monday night.

All the staff were very lovely and attentive to our needs. We were a bit early but they allowed us to sit at the bar for some drinks. Cocktails were really good and would defo return for these! However, the food i’d say was overpriced for what it was. It didn’t taste bad at all but did not reflect the prices, just your bog standard burger and chips. Will be returning but only for the drinks :)

The food was pretty good but I feel like both the food and drinks menu could do with more details. It may have been beneficial for the food I ordered to have been labelled in some way as rather spicy and the drink I ordered has no mention of a fizzy component to it. If these had been made clearer I would have made an alternative choice and most likely enjoyed my meal more. The ribs that my husband had were amazing as always and the corn dogs my daughter had were lovely too.

Lovely quick service, great food and friendly staff. Our waiter (Ieuan) was so good with the children, really making them feel part of the experience. He was very attentive and has a fantastic memory, getting our full order correct without writing anything down. Overall, a lovely experience.
