Delicious food, fresh and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and the service was fast. Definitely one of the best places in town!”

We have ordered from the Codfather quite a few times in the past and have always been impressed with the food. We cannot say the same this time unfortunately. We had 4 fish (prices have increased massively) 3 were meant to be large and 1 small. The photo attached is the small and large fish side by side. As you can see, you can't tell the difference between them. We were quite appalled at this when there's nearly a £6 difference between them. The chip portions were the same and considering there is no option for a small chips, only a large they were the size of a small. A large used to feed more than 2 people. Today it barely served 2 people and so we had to feed 5 with a rather undersized portion of chips. The delivery was early and the food was nice, but the portions were nothing compared to what they were and for the prices it just doesn't seem worth it. Don't think we'll be ordering again unfortunately.

I recently visited The Codfather in Abergavenny and had a delightful experience. The service was lovely, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome. The fish and chips were incredibly tasty, with fantastic portions that left us more than satisfied. We chose to sit outside, which was a great decision as we could enjoy the pleasant weather while dining. One of the highlights was ogling the selection of cheesecakes on display – they all looked absolutely delicious! Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend The Codfather for anyone looking for a great meal in Abergavenny.

Staff and atmosphere of the shop are great, very friendly and kind and engage in conversation with you. Was a little disappointed at the fish as it felt like it wasn’t really crispy / fried well, was quite greasy and it stuck to the paper when it was unwrapped. So can say I have had better - willing to give benefit of the doubt as it was takeaway. Chips were nice enough and battered sausage had great reviews. Would give the Irish curry sauce a miss as the normal one was good enough!

Excellent little shop with the basic three - cod, chips and batter - all beautifully cooked and very tasty. Very pleased we came across this little gem.

Lovely food, although took quite long to arrive at least it was nice and fresh, only downside no toilets available to use.

Just ordered large fish and chips as specified on the menu. Only fish has arrived with no chips. Refusing to deliver us chips or give refund. Deffo would NOT recommend. What kind of restaurant lists something and refuses to give half of what's ordered. Also not happy with the way the staff spoke to me after ringing, got spoke to like a piece of dirt on her shoe and told that they not going to refund me and to take it up with just eat. Also nearly gagged from the bad bo smell coming from the coming from the delivery driver. Will not be ordering from there again as I feel I've been scammed.
