   I went into the store at the weekend and was helped by Sam. I explained that I was looking for advice for a rental property I own elsewhere in the country and that a carpenter was fitting a Howdens kitchen for me but buying the products from his local store. Even though he knew he'd miss out on commission, he couldn't have been any more helpful. He discussed the pros and cons of different sinks and held samples so I could choose worktop and floor colours. He even made sure I got the best value for money by recommending a different sink and tap combination. He wasn't pushy, just incredibly helpful. It would be wonderful if all stores had such a wonderful customer focused attitude.

   Visited today to get some ideas re units, colours etc for our impending kitchen refer. A great range in view and found the gentleman on duty extremely helpful. Great customer service and I am happy to recommend to others. Can't speak of the fitting service as not used them for that (yet).

   I tried to arrange a design appointment over emails. I was going back and forth with different people every time I emailed. I have been asked questions as to when I wanted to buy the units and when I would like a designer to come. But nothing productive ever came out of all of that. I had to chase them every time. And eventually I got tired of it. So I quit. And we are going with someone else now. I would share my poor experience with friends and family. It feels like they don't care. Very poor communication. Such a shame.

   I'm not sure about the integrity of this place. There is no question that we bought nice kitchen units etc, which are of reasonable quality. However, I can't help thinking that they price the kitchen to suit one's budget, rather than having fixed pricing for kitchen unit etc purchases. I think if you tell them the truth about your budget, you end up paying way over the top for what you get, which if I'm correct, is at the least very cynical and at worst, probably unlawful. The feedback provided by Howden's doesn't unfortunately answer any of the questions I originally raised, which were aimed specifically at Howden's and did not apply to the builder/fitter, who I employed separately on a fixed price and about whom I made no mention in my review. It also does not apply to the Rugby branch, which sells directly to the public, circumventing the builder/fitter. Furthermore, in my case none of the statements made thereby are applicable as I am a trade customer and my Company has an account with Howden's, whose representative came out to my house, did the design work for the kitchen and 'sold' the thing to us. In these respects not least, the answer provided is disingenuous and it would seem, obfuscational.
