Although most are positive, I’m surprised by some of the negative reviews posted regarding the Brewhouse cafe. I’m a regular customer and think the selection of food and drinks on offer are of a really high standard, all in the beautiful surroundings of Tredegar House. Staff are superb, having seen them cope admirably with some very busy periods, and also some very difficult customers, often the man baby variety, whining, or even shouting, about cup charges or waiting too long for their ice creams!! Keep up the good work.

Stopped in after visiting Tredegar House, it was very busy (Sunday @ 12:30pm), but we were able to get a table. I had a hot chocolate which was delicious! Far better than I had expected from somewhere pretty small, my boyfriend had tea which came in a teapot which made around 3 cups of tea. The service was super quick and the staff were friendly and attentive with cleaning tables. You can take dogs into the cafe too, though I’m not sure if all the tables are dog-friendly as some of them had specific signs to advertise that they were dog-friendly (other tables didn’t have this).

Great dog friendly spot for a cafe after a walk. The place has a canteen feel but when we went there on a very miserable rainy day it was perfectly warm. We had some cakes/scones which were really lovely - the hot cross bun scone was so good - and the coffee was much better quality than I’d usually expect from a cafe attached to another venue. Really enjoyed it and love that we can enjoy it with our dog.

On entering this national trust cafe you are instantly welcomed by the warming auroma of farmhouse soup. However on this first visit to a Welsh national trust cafe I decided to indulge my sweet tooth with a new local accompaniment to my flat white, namely a Welsh Cake. Both coffee and cakes were excellent and vegan. This establishment surpassed the normal high standards set by other national trust cafes, due to their customer service and the building used for the cafe. Worth a visit and it's definitely in my top five NT cafes. They sell doggy ice cream for our favourite four legged friends

Went a little while ago. Rubbish cafe, staff so so rude, everything was too much trouble. Wanted a cream tea (scone/jam/clotted cream) was given a single scone with nothing else. When I asked for the rest she just said 'that's extra'. Well, I didn't think I would be free! They were packing up and not taking orders despite it being about 30 odd mins before they closed. We'd ordered hot drinks and scones, I went back up to get a cold drink about 5 mins later and they refused to serve me because they wanted to close the till (still about 25 mins before they closed). I asked if I could not have a lid put on my hot drink as it was hot chocolate, wanted a bit of cream on top, and the girl said "no, you have to have the lid on, it's H&S" and my god the look I got! My Mum and I had our drinks at a table only to have our feet bashed a few times by the woman frantically trying to sweep the floors, knocking our feet and moving all the chairs around our table in and out, while we ate. Awful place. There was about 5 members of staff working and every single one of them looked miserable, didn't see one smile the half hour we were in there. Won't go back in a hurry
