   The clue is in the name…. OLD!. This was a disappointment from the moment we pulled into the car park. Absolutely nothing like the pictures, which are evidently 70 years old (bet is was lovely back in its day). Then we walk in and the smell…damp, musty, wet dog. So to reception we go. Fine, check in was simple enough. Wanted a drink to start our weekend celebrations, but the bar was closed. Hadn’t been opened for years. No food available either (crisps, protein bars and nuts available at reception at £2.50 a pack/bar). Asked if they knew of anywhere we could go, directions provided for a pub or an Italian restaurant. Ok helpful. So we take our bags to the rooms and despite the long maze corridors resembling a B&B, we eventually find them and to be fare better than expected. Fairly clean and probably too big for what we needed. Toilet stop, go to wash my hands, no running hot water from the hand basin. Bottle tops lying on bedroom floor. Some plug sockets not working either, in both rooms! Fridge in the room fine (in the other room, dips left over from previous guest in their fridge…expired, lol). Fine let’s make the most of it and head to the pub….follow the directions and find said pub…. Closed! Google the recommended restaurant….closed! Wow. In the car and a quick google, locate and enjoy a thoroughly lovely meal and drink. Back to the hotel, got ready and went and enjoyed our night out. Up in the morning quick shower for me, not bad. Husband goes for a shower, no hot water. And same for the other room. Enough hot water for one and but not for another person. Staff were polite enough. 100% would never stay here again. Please don’t look at the photos advertised or you will be disappointed.

   I order breakfast but no breakfast showed on the booking in the hotel so nothing was prepared. Apparently, I was the only one in the hotel that wanted breakfast! There was no restaurant/bar at all either (although this was noted on the web site prior to booking). It's a typical converted place that has seen better day. My room had a nice view of the motorway. It server what I needed for a night but I would likely look to stay else where.

   DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I stay in Huddersfield for work and all my usual hotels were fully booked. I am not generally that fussy where I stay as all I need to do is eat and sleep. When I arrived I was told there was no bar or restaurant. The whole hotel smells of smoke and there were men just stood around at the front smoking and staring at me. I felt very unsafe in this hotel and decided to check out. I was warned by a local restaurant owner also that it was not a good idea to stay there. The website is an absolute fabrication. It may have been a nice hotel once upon a time but is nolonger that. If you are a family or single woman do not stay here.

   No one on reception when we checked in. Waited around 15-20 minutes. Tried calling the hotel but it just disconnected everytime. We could call each other though.....hmmm suspicious haha! Had a good snoop around. Shows great potential for providing meals, but no signs of anything being cooked recently. Rooms are definitely 3 star, nothing special but everything you need for an overnight stay. No plug sockets beside the beds so if you have medical equipment that needs plugging in maybe find another hotel. We were offered an extension. Not exactly ideal but the only solution the lovely bloke on reception had after checking every room that was free. There are USB ports for charging your phone beside the beds. Parking is pretty good, plenty of spaces to choose from, not great if you're a poor decision maker! If its raining, like proper raining, the entrance floods, so be mindful when walking to the entrance. I wasn't! The bathrooms had hand wash and shower gel which was quite pleasant actually, so don't panic about taking some or forgetting yours. Water pressure was absolutely pants, the shower basically just dribbled. It tried to shower but failed quite remarkably. The taps had pretty good pressure. The motorway is quite close and if the window is open you can hear the traffic, we didn't think it was overly intrusive and with the window closed you can't hear a thing. The WiFi is pretty good, no password so not too much faffing. They do offer a kind of continental breakfast (it has cheese) but we didn't fancy that. There's a Toby Carvery not too far away and plenty of other cafe options on another day that doesn't have "sun" in it. Anything I've not covered just ask.

   Had a 2 night stay here. It was fine, room was clean and so was the bathroom. Unfortunately the radiator didn't seem to work though but was still warm enough to get some sleep. Bath was nice but the shower would only work on cold. Breakfast is pretty basic and offers a pretty small continental only selection. No other food is available though currently so you will need to order dinner in or find somewhere to dine at. It's a nice location though and staff were plesant.

   Honestly disappointing.... The rooms weren't clean with dust everywhere especially in the bathroom. And really dated and old feeling rooms. The rooms were stupidly hot at all times of the day even with the radiators off. The beds are unfortunately very uncomfortable. The shower is lacking any sort of usable pressure. Showers take twice as long even though there is very good flow in the bath and sink.... The only positive of our stay was the staff, they were lovley, friendly and helpful.

   It looks like a really run-down cheap hotel, quite scruffy, which is probably good for when someone is in desperate need of staying. Holiday inn, premier inn on junction 25 same price but miles better

   Staff were friendly but the hotel wasn’t overly great. Right next to the motorway which you couldn’t hear with the window shut but due to the upstairs being boiling (in mid winter!) had to have the window open and the sound of traffic was very loud. Not many facilities within the room, wallpaper was dated and torn, not overly clean, hardly any water pressure in the shower and bed not amazing

   Sadly this hotel is far from what I expected. Whilst the staff are very friendly the rooms are extremely tired and contrary to the advertised menu and afternoon teas, no food is available. This cannot be right and upon that basis it can never be 3*. Basically you get a breakfast of bread or croissant and have to go elsewhere for lunch or evening meals. I understand that this hotel has just reopened to the public having previously only offered shelter to asylum seekers. Old Golf Hotel you must deal with your website as it falsely represents what you offer and that is unacceptable. Sorry, I will never use you again.
