The reception staff were very welcoming and polite, which is the only positive part of my stay. However, when I entered my room, I was shocked to find toenail clippings scattered all over the floor, across the entire room. It was absolutely disgusting. I had to collect some of the toenail clippings myself in tissues and took them to the reception so they could see them, and even they were disgusted…imagine me! Two staff members then came with a vacuum, stayed for less than 30 seconds and left. Even after they “cleaned” toenails were still clearly visible on the carpet, meaning the floor was not properly vacuumed at all. If something as simple and obvious as vacuuming a carpet cannot be done properly even after the issue was reported, it seriously raises concerns about the overall hygiene standards of this hotel. The housekeeping felt careless and inefficient with no real effort made to resolve the issue properly. I also noticed a recent review mentioning tiny bugs everywhere and after experiencing this level of cleanliness firsthand, that now makes complete sense. With this standard of housekeeping, the least you would expect is the presence of bugs. No compensation, no proper follow-up and no accountability were shown. This incident alone says a lot about how rooms are cleaned in general. Please be cautious before booking. If this is how the hotel responds when a serious cleanliness issue is reported that shouldn’t have happened in the first place, I can’t imagine what the unseen hygiene problems might be like. This experience was absurd and completely unacceptable.

Hotel was well placed for Cardiff City. Staff were friendly and attentive, especially reception who went over and beyond to help. Stayed in room 122 which had a few issues. My sheets were less than clean with several marks and a drippy sink tap that was annoyed at night that I got up and put a handtowel in sink in middle of the night. Room was well proportioned, good range of products and beds very comfortable. I would stay again just Room needs some attention to detail.

The location is perfect, as it’s a short walk to all the city center attractions and to Cardiff Queen Street station. The room is comfortable and complete with all the amenities you may need. But what really stands out is the staff. All super nice and helpful. Special praise to Marina, whose amazing service provided an exceptional stay!

Not been back to Cardiff in over a decade and was on a 3 day visit with pals. Great hotel. Excellent room. Spacious and comfortable with good views and Immaculately cleaned on a daily basis. Good buffet breakfast and staff were all friendly and helpful. One minor issue in my room was swiftly dealt with. I would have no hesitation in returning to The Leonardo........

Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. All was clean and fresh and we had everything we needed. Nice big TV and big windows too. Location was excellent. Very central, everything was within 5-10minutes walking distance. We also visited the restaurant and we enjoyed our food and wine. Nice reception area well decorated simple yet stylish. And it was all very good value for the price we paid. Check in and check out was made very simple, quick and easy with the online option. All in all we had a lovely time and really enjoyed staying at the hotel so will definitely stay again if we visit in the future and we highly recommend it.

I have stayed 6 nights in January 2023. Each room was cold. I had to change room each time as the shower was cold. One night they had no rooms so transferred me to park plaza hotel. It had warm showers and heating. From reading the reviews on trip advisor cold showers and cold rooms have been the norm. I have emailed them and got no reply nor apology. Basically they done care, my advise close this hotel refit and reopen. I enjoy staying in Leonardo Bristol and Exeter. They are great. But avoid Leonardo Cardiff! It’s shambolic.

We were able to check in early which was awesome. The room was a good size and had pretty much everything in there that we needed. The only thing is, when we showered the floor got soaked. There was no curtain, it was a glass window which only covered half the shower. The room was otherwise comfortable and clean. The heating system was great as it was -4°c outside. In our room there was and Iron & Ironing board, fridge and a hair dryer plus ample storage for clothing if you’re staying a few nights. We needed to ask for more towels though as there was only one set provided. This wasn’t a problem, more were brought to our room within minutes. There is an extensive room service food and drinks menu to. Perfect location for city centre shopping and there is a customer car park at the back at an additional £20 charge per 24 hours. ( I travelled by train so didn’t need this facility)

Lovely hotel. Perfect location . Very friendly , helpful staff . Very clean room with all amenities . We had read other comments about the noise . So we packed earplugs . Not a sound all night !!! We were on the second floor at the side and it was so quiet . No need for the plugs . All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our chicken burger and pint was £18 . Not bad for city centre and 4 star . We went to a concert and when we came back the barman had a pint and a wine waiting for us . Breakfast was self service . But everything was there and fresh . 10/10 . We will be back . Thank you .

What’s not to like? I’m currently sat in bed in this hotel at 12:30 (sat/sun) enjoying all the music that I’d have to pay £7 for a ticket to Pryzm night club for usually. OK, we’ll maybe just the bass. Not looking forward to kick-out time or the road sweeper concerto in b-minor that are to come. To be fair, the rooms are as advertised (look exactly like the photos) and it’s been spotless, even if we did have to fight our way through a bunch of drunken smokers on the way in. Beds are good. No other issues. Probably an amazing place to stay if you want free clubbing or are hard of hearing. The noise isn’t the hotel’s fault. But you need to know what to expect if you want a good night’s sleep away from the kids for the first time in 2 years. Would have been a 4/5 at least if it was quiet.

Have stayed here twice now. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, help you in any way they can and will answer any questions you have. Both times we have stayed, on checking in the staff member told us we had been upgraded to either a king room or the second time a junior suite! Both rooms were amazing and everything was complimentary. Also has secure parking behind the hotel that is gated which was easy to use and find. Highly recommend.
