Food was delicious eventhough on the expensive side and also took a while to arrive. Staff were all so polite and helpful! Ambience and decoration inside were top-notch! First time having Christmas dinner kebab style...

Restaurant in the centre of Cardiff. Great for a small number of people in your group. I was there for my work's Christmas meal. Food was tasty and well cooked, but the veg portions were smaller than last year. Good atmosphere though. Restaurant is on the first floor but there is lift access for those who cannot manage stairs. WCs also available for those with reduced mobility.

We went there for cocktails before our evening meal. No food was bought. We had to wait a while to get served, but when we did staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time there and will definitely go back.

Great spot downtown Cardiff. Went there with my family for dinner and it was great. The atmosphere is pretty cool. It is, well… full of plants everywhere, it IS the Botanist! I think a lot of the plants are fake in some of the hangers, but nice design and effect nonetheless. The menu was good, had good choices for pick eaters, as well as nice options for more adventuresome diners. We had one of the mixed skewer dishes and it was great. Also had the fish and chips and the chicken burger. The chicken burger was quite interesting with bacon added as well as a mac and cheese fritter in the burger. Service was good, not spectacular, a little green, but good enough. They were friendly and doing their best so that was still good to cover up some conversational blemishes. Bathrooms are a little lacking, broken off toilet paper holders etc, need a little TLC to get them into better shape. The location is great if you are in the downtown area. It is in the heart of the nightlife with a lot of pubs and restaurants in the area. Felt safe at night and was busy with good energy. A great place and I would recommend it for a family dinner, romantic evening out, or to meet some friends in the bar for a drink.

Everything about The Botanist is lovely. The staff, food, atmosphere, and a big emphasis on the drinks. Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm you can enjoy happy hour, I certainly did. With a nice price and a 2 for 1 deal, you certainly get all the drinks you need. I was there celebrating a family members birthday and they went above and beyond, including a decorative dessert board. The hanging kebab you’ll find no where else, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. This is a perfect place to have some nice photos at your table or the bar with its greenery and low lighting. Be mindful of all the steps (there is an elevator). The staff are also very understanding about arriving a few minutes late to your reservation time. Definitely make a reservation if possible. Earlier in the evening you should necessarily need one, but better safe than sorry to miss out.

Great food, lovely atmosphere, the only downside was the limited Sunday evening menu and the lack of options remaining due to selling out. What we had was great, but would have liked more of a choice and more than one option of dessert - we ended up skipping this as none of us liked the remaining option. Would return again, maybe not on a Sunday eve.

Overall a lovely night out. Limited menu on a Sunday but it I'll eat anything so went for the kebab. It was delicious! Drinks are really expensive so only had the one cocktail! Staff are lovely and the guy who was playing a live acoustic set was phenomenal, could listen to him for hours! Our bill was incorrect and was overcharged for some drinks we didnt have but that was rectified by staff. Lovely atmosphere and worth a visit.

The food was lovely, couldn't fault it, the service however was not. There were seven of us in the party, we had the table booked for 3 hours. We had the set meal, two of which ordered steak. We were asked how we wanted it cooked, but when it arrived, we were told by the waitress it was a set menu, and they were all cooked the same way. When we advised her we were asked how we wanted it cooked, she rolled her eyes at us; this was not the first time. Several of the waitresses rolled their eyes at us when asked for something.

Absolutely lovely service from all the staff, great recommendations on food choices, friendly and genuine. The cocktails are delicious and the bartenders made requests not on the menu which is a lovely touch. Not an extensive food menu but still plenty of choice and the food is delicious and beautifully presented.
