Great location, easy to find with great nearby parking. Great communication from the hosts and the site although large felt safe. Really enjoyed the high quality of everything in the hut from the soap, the crockery, the bedsheets etc. Everywhere on site was amazingly clean, well taken care of and the pizza was delicious, thank you! Will definitely be looking to stay next summer to see the difference from our crisp October stay.

Loved it. A great campsite. A lovely blend of conveniences and a natural/wild feel to the pitches. Highly likely to return and recommended.

It is a great spot away from the busy cities. Perfect to unwind and forget about the stress. Because of the remote location, they use waterless flush toilets and that stinks! But the complete experience is worth it.

Stayed for 2 nights at the end of half term. booked two pitches for myself and extended family - many of whom were first timers. Bell tent provided was already set up for us and spacious - a lovely way to camp. Fire pit and bench also in situ in both pitches which were nicely laid out. Toilets and electric showers all plumbed and kept in good working order. The support provided when needed was great. Hot water always available. Popular with families and anglers and locals coming for coffee and pizzas. Pizzas are really good and a welcome treat. Dishwashing facilities, fridges and freezer and firewood are all available in the communal play and living space provided (as well as charger points) - this would keep you dry during wet weather too. There is no wifi and phone signal on site which is a bonus to help switch off. Comms from Mark were excellent. Would recommend and visit again. Kids really enjoyed it and asked to come back!

Just got back from a 4 night stay at purple badger with 2 days fishing and I can honestly say it’s the best relaxing long weekend we have ever had,the site itself is fantastic , out in the country it’s so peaceful and quiet and then at night the owls are just hooting away in the trees, the owners mark and Helen are two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet and they can’t do enough for you they both work very hard to make your stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible as well as working the coffee cart and Pizza Hut( which I must say is the best stone baked pizza ever). We both look forward to popping back down for pizza on a weekend and will be returning at the end of October for Halloween celebrations. Many thanks again mark and Helen.

Just back from spending a couple of days at purple badger. And first thing to say..wow, beautiful place, good sized pitches. Great communal area for hanging out and the best latte I have had for a long time. As for the fresh oven cooked pizza just wow. As for the owner’s really friendly and children with fantastic manners. Can’t wait for next year. Thank you purple badger.

Loved it here, everything has been really thoroughly thought through. Table football and two rustic cabin style covered areas to relax in away from the tent as well as a coffee and food hut. Brilliant communication. Large pitches each with own fire pit. My favourite camp site to date. Shame its so far away from home.

I came out of fishing retirement and was looking for somewhere to take my 5 year old and 8 year old grandsons when they came up on a visit. They had never been fishing before. I hadn't fished for the best part of 30 years! Went to Purple Badger. The boys loved it. Between them they caught over 20 fish in 3.5/4 hours. And they were pretty well behaved because in between catching fish they still had bites. Rain was torrential for a while but the coffee bar served excellent hot coffee to take the chill off. The overhanging trees make teaching the youngsters to cast a tad difficult but overall an excellent experience! The people who run it all were nice too! Highly recommended.

A great quiet spot for some off-the-grid(ish) camping. We hired the entire site as a group and found the pitches were nice and private whilst the communal areas were the perfect spot to hang out in any weather. We have already booked for next year to do it all again. A superb addition is the coffee shop open in the mornings for drinks and a hot breakfast.
