I moved into a property with JNR in July, and had a couple of issues in the beginning, including not having the correct key for the flat, and a contractor showing up without notice. However, everyone in the office was lovely and happy to help. Connor came out to the flat immediately to correct the issue with they key, and spoke to the landlord about the contractor, after which, the issue never happened again. Since then, everything's been fine and the office always have time for my calls/emails when I have a question.

JNR have been a great agency to deal with over the past year. We did have a few maintenance issues during the tenancy, however the team at JNR always worked hard to resolve these quickly and without fuss. Connor was particularly helpful, and always had time to take my calls.

Most responsive agency I’ve been with during my whole time at uni. They fixed issues raised with them quickly and efficiently through an online portal they have for maintenance requests. Although they were slow with emails, if you called them or submitted requests through the maintenance portal they were really good. We had no trouble getting our full deposit back. Cathays is known for having some dodgy housing agencies but I did not have any issues with JNR.

My tenancy with JNR properties was really disappointing! For example, we were left with no blinds for a year and were told we could not put our own up. This left us exposed when getting changed in bedrooms and coming out of the shower and was distressing as young girls. In addition to other un-resolved maintenance issues, at the end of our tenancy we were charged £600 from the deposit. £30 to clean a lampshade to high for us to reach without a ladder. £270 for the landlord to repaint simply because he didn’t want to pay out of his own pocket. There were other silly charges and an additional £130 ‘light cleaning fee’ even though we left it cleaner than when we arrived. Thankfully we managed to get the deposit back, by proving it with old pictures, so keep this in mind you are renting from them. These issues could have been easily resolved had communication been better from the team particularly Ryan. Who was lovely on the phone or email if he wasn’t avoiding you, but unfortunately actually never got anything done. What he did manage to was tho was make up the charges from our deposit some of which were illegal according to the tenant fees act 2019. Overall JNR properties personify poor customer service and are one of the worst letting agents in wales.

Be careful, read my comment firstly before you decide to rent a flat from them. I lived in a flat managed by this letting agency for over two years and had a really bad experience. They bothered me a lot by coming into my flat too many times and most of them without telling me first, which really bothered me. Even though I told them to stop doing this, they didn't care. They also tried to take too much money from my deposit for things that weren't my fault, like fixing a leak in the roof. Every time they visited, they left the main door unlocked, which was risky for my stuff specially when I was out for vacation for long time, every time I came back, I found the main door unlocked. When you talk to them in their office, they seem nice, but their actions never ever match their words. They don't respect the people living in the flats and they will do their best to find ways to take more money than they should. I want to tell others to be careful with this agency. No matter what you did to protect yourself, they always found a way to take as much as they could from your deposit. They're really good at doing that. This is my experience with them and you should now decide whether you want to go with them or not. It's up to you.

Great experience! Great Agency! Everyone that we have spoken to so far has been amazing! Not only are they very helpful, also friendly and undateable (which is needed during the renting process). Everything was so easy and well organised, from the moment we had the house viewing with James to when we got our keys with Ryan (I believe he’s responsible for processing the maintenance) to other members of staff we spoke to. Plus they gave us a folder with EVERYTHING we needed to know concerning the flat. We could not be more pleased with the experience specially after some other adventures that we had, that left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Thank you everyone in the JNR team for making this process nice and easy for us

*current tenant with JNR* JNR are brilliant, they are always available via phone and email for me to contact! JNR initially negotiated me moving into my property earlier than planned for my own convenience and the whole flat had already been freshly painted and updated for me. All of the paperwork, contracts and inventory were ready for me when I collected the keys. References and guarantors were set up and arranged with no hassle to myself and smoothly done! Any maintenance issues are fixed asap and they always give notice on inspections or visits- otherwise I have no need to speak to them as my property is fab with no issues. Excellent staff- James has been fantastic throughout my tenancy. Really good agency! I have found my experience very easy and pleasurable with JNR :)

Stay away! In my personal opinion, the demands JNR make with regards to guarantors are completely out of line, especially considering their own standards, when it comes to sending documents back the other way. If you can't trust a letting agent to get the dates on a contract correct, what can you trust them on? Honestly it seems like all professionalism goes straight out of the window the second they have your holding fee, and a friend of mine is still waiting to get theirs back, months later. In my honest opinion I would personally recommend avoiding JNR.

I was disappointed to hear about a friend's experience with JNR Properties. I understand they took a holding deposit then refused to proceed with the tenancy application without carrying out intrusive checks such as asking for the Title Deeds of the prospective guarantor. They then refused to refund the deposit. Applicants shouldn't have to be subject to such invasive, unnecessary scrutiny and should be free to withdraw from such an unfair arrangement without penalty. Is this even legal? It certainly shouldn't be! This is my personal honest opinion and review of my friend's experiences of dealing with JNR Properties.

Recently moved into a property with JNR and they’ve been amazing. Previous tenants destroyed the place however they’ve helped with so many things and the moving in process has been easy and comfortable. The maintenance can sometimes take a while (but when don’t they) but I would absolutely recommend!
