My dog required an operation to remove a cracked tooth. This required him to have general anaesthetic which was obviously a concern. The vet Chloe was brilliant and updated and assured us every step of the way. My dog was well looked after by the team and received excellent treatment and is in good health. Thank you Chloe and Good Companions.
Excellent Vets, my previous two dogs used to come here and my current dog does spanning 20 years now. All the Vets are very caring and kind but my Staffy adores Vet Chloe, so I always ask for her. Whoever answers the phone on reception is also very helpful and polite and all the Nurses are brilliant and caring.
I cannot recommend this vet practice enough.From the moment I contacted them regarding having my Springer 'Bailey Boo' PTS yesterday 10.4.25.The practice manager was so compassionate and understanding,the vet nurse present while he was PTS was absolutley amazing and so caring.The vet herself when above and beyond to explain what was going to happen,asked if she could start.I have nothing but praise for these guy's.Thankyou for making an upsetting experience into a calm,peaceful experience. Phoebe passed away on 25/09/23. I think of her everyday and everyday regret bringing her to this vet. Please don't make the same mistakes as me. The attitude of the owner/head vet was cold and capitalistic. I think of this clinic as untrustworthy, I felt their attitude towards Phoebe changed when they realised I was running out of money. The majority of my subsequent appointments felt rushed. Phoebe got sick a few weeks before we brought her to Good Companions. We weren't sure what with.They diagnosed her with a rare disease they described as a mix of cancer and autoimmune. The first vet to care for her was a young woman who was great and empathetic, you could tell she cared about Phoebe. She went on holiday around this time. Things went downhill fast from here. I was taking Phoebe to Good Companions 2-3x a week to care for some open wounds that cysts and lesions had caused. Each visit I would spend £70-150. My money was running out fast, my insurance quickly maxed out. They would not accept any kind of payment plan despite the fact her life depended on it. Before she died both her eyes went black. The whole entire eye. They used to be blue. They never explained why and told me their eye specialist was on holiday. Their diagnosis was genuinely just 'its very weird?'. Before she died I was in an appointment with a middle aged female vet. After changing Phoebe's bandages she said she wanted to give her a liver scan and I should pay another £120 on top of my visit to have it done immediately. I told her I didn't have the money. She said that she would really like to do one but if I didn't have the money it wasn't possible and sent me to reception to pay my bill for the day. I should have asked more questions. I was very overwhelmed and depressed at the time. The appointment was rushed, vet gave no further information. 1 week before she died she was put on new medication to treat the cancerous legions. We were told of several side effects, one of which was swelling of the stomach. Over the next week her stomach swelled and the legions began to dry and fall off. I literally cried with joy. A week later, I brought her in the day after my birthday eager to show the vet her improvement. They said her liver had failed. We put her down that evening. She was 3 1/2 years old. They were seeing her 3 times a week. I spent literally everything I had. I regret giving them a penny. There were several other negative incidents with the vet I have not detailed. 6 months after her passing the head vet/manager called me to pay off the remaining £100 left over from her cremation. He left a voicemail that said that if I didn't pay within the next 2 days he would sue me over it. I was working minimum wage at the time. I called him tearful and angry telling him that they had never even explained why she had died. Why her liver had failed. Why they hadn't warned us of the signs, the possibility; despite her frequent visits. He admitted he would never sue me over £100. He said he could hear that I was 'still upset over the death of my pet' and cleared the debt.
Muttley first went to Good companions as a pup but after that never needed a vet. He was a beautiful cockerpoo. In his 12th year he became very poorly. It happened so fast and there was nothing that could be done. Chloe was amazing. Kind caring and professional. Chloe and Harriet came to us as we didn’t want Muttley to take his final sleep anywhere else but in his home. They were so kind and caring. We were given all the information we needed and were consulted every step of the way. Muttley went to sleep peacefully with us holding him. He wagged his tail till the end. Thank you for being so careful and loving to him. The footprint, fur, forget me not seeds you sent made me cry but we will treasure them❤️ Thank you x
Following a recent illness of my dog, she and I have been back and forth to the vets almost on a weekly basis since the beginning of the year. Thankfully, she is better now but whilst this was going on, all the staff at good companions: the vets, nurses, and reception team, have all been very kind, patient, and supportive as we’ve navigated through all the emotions entailed in caring for an elderly dog.
OMG, I can't say enough about these vets & nurses. They know what it is to have a fur baby you are worried about or is sick. I have and do recommend them.
Was recommended by a friend of ours to use this vet. Our Rabbits Hugo and Crumble have both had veterinary care here. Fantastic ,caring and very helpful staff . Highly recommend 5 star service every time *****
Fantastic. I changed to Good Companions after a recommendation and am so glad that I did. They are very caring and look after your pet as if it were their own. The receptionists have always bent over backwards to get appointments as quickly as possible and Christina has been the vet who has cared for my dog and she has gone above and beyond. So glad that I've found this practice.
Horrible experience Went in as an emergency. Waited half hour to be seen. 40 minutes before she was treated. Hour and a half later she died
