Contacted Kingsway vets to get a librela jab for my elderly spaniel whilst I was away from home. I had a prescription from my usual vet in Ireland so was a very simple matter of providing the drug and administering the injection. The good :- Pleasant reception staff and vet, easy to book an appointment pleasant surgery with easy parking. The bad:- THE PRICE I normally pay 90 euros (£78.78 sterling) for the monthly injection from my vet in Ireland here l payed £162.47 for the same injection (We were in the consultation room for just over 3 minutes) . I expected to pay more in the UK as it has a reputation for over the top veterinary costs but this price is nothing short of scandalous. If I need to seek veterinary treatment in the UK in future I will be sure to find an independent practice not corporate rip of merchants !!

When our dog sustained an injury recently we needed to visit the vet’s. The whole experience and process of initial urgent appointment to being referred onto a specialist hospital for surgery was excellent. All staff were compassionate and caring to us as owners and to our dog. Communication was brilliant in all aspects of explaining the injury, costings and the referral process for getting specialist treatment

Perfectly good practitioners. But being charged £70 for a short (less than 15 minutes) consultation, which was frankly unnecessary and simply to receive a referral for dog hydrotherapy treatment elsewhere, is unacceptable. Having been with Kingsway for many years, I'm being forced to look elsewhere.

I wholeheartedly recommend the team at Kingsway Veterinary Group. Our sweet little cat Molly sadly got hit by a car at the weekend. Luckily she survived but she was in a bad way and we didn’t know if we were going to lose her. We were able to get her seen immediately at Kingsway (on a Sunday) by Beth. Beth gently examined Molly and gave us an idea of what might have happened. After x-rays and tests Beth kept us informed of how she was throughout the day and let us know possible treatment options and approximate costs. We had more follow up calls on Monday, a meeting with the surgeon Steven and a very welcome visit to see Molly at the surgery. Steven clearly explained the whole process to me. Molly had broken her leg in two places. It needed plating and pinning in several places. Steven and the nursing team kept us informed of how things were before and after the operation and how Molly had got on overnight. I’m very pleased to say that Molly is now safely home where she belongs - just a day after the operation. As a family we can’t thank the whole Kingsway team enough for their kindness, their expertise and for keeping us fully informed throughout the process. We really appreciate it. Here is Molly before her accident.

I just wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone who looked after out beautiful boy Gizmo when he crossed the rainbow bridge on the 24th of July. You where so kind, nothing was too much trouble, you gave us as much time as we needed before and after to say our goodbyes. Even when we where ready to leave you covered him with a blanket and one of the nurses sat with him until he was taken to be cremated, that was just such a sweet thing for you to do! You organised everything right down to Charlotte collecting him to be cremated and being able to pick his ashes up from the vets! Today we collected Gizmo's ashes which thanks to Charlotte was presented so beautiful. There was a beautiful card from everyone at the vets, you had taken the time do his paw prints, nose prints and save us some of his hair. These little things mean so much to us in such a sad time. We will forever remember your kindness, thankyou so much from us all ♥️

From the moment Kingsway answered my call to the moment I collected Patches after diagnosis, I felt that everyone involved really cared about and for him, explaining everything clearly and sympathetically along the way. Excellent, warm, informative and professional service. Highly recommended.

Their standard of care from arriving to leaving are excellent. We moved area but continued to use this vets even though it’s 12+ miles away. Our dog has on going issues and Beth Laycock has listened to any concerns we may have. They are just wonderful.

So, sadly, this WAS a 5* review, NOW a 1*. I previously shared how incredible kingsway were in helping me and my cat after she ate part of a cheese plant leaf (toxic to cats). Due to me having PDSA cover, it covered the majority of the service, i was informed at the end of the service I only had an outstanding balance of £13 for the anti reaction jab my cat had to have. The bill was agreed after the service (£13 for jab) and I left feeling very happy, and I left a 5* review strait away. The next day, after the 5* review, I received a phone call, asking for £84 to pay for a phone call they made to the “poisons line” !? Since I was not informed of this charge, nor did I consent to a charged phone call, and nor was it mentioned when the service was completed and bill confirmed with reception of £13, I was upset to say the least. “The customer is always right” WELL NOT HERE! Iv been told: “you must have been told about the fee” “maybe you misheard” OR maybe your staff forgot to tell me? Like they forgot to add it to the total bill!? I am a disabled, single mother, if an £80 phone call had been mentioned to me do you think I would have accepted or proceeded!? I can’t help but feel this was added to get more money out of us due to my pdsa covering the bill. I am currently waiting for proof of this £80 charge from the poisons line to kingsway. Overall a horrendous customer journey, and has caused me a lot of stress, worry and anxiety. I felt it only write to update the review to warn others. In my opinion - AVOID!!
