My Wife and I called in here on Friday night. We had fishcake and chips and it was absolutely delicious and the prices were very fair. Proper traditional chip shop fayre beautifully cooked. We sat in the bus stop to eat to get out of the rain and it was really nice. The man who served us was a very kind man.
Do not go here... RUN HERE! SKIP EVERYTHING ELSE, JUST GO HERE! NOW! THIS IS THE ONLY FISH & CHIPS YOU NEED AMERICANS! DO IT!
Just bought chips from Albany Fish Bar and they were absolutely disgusting. They were pale and most of all greasy. Will never go back.
I had a really disappointing experience at Albany Fish Bar. I ordered chips and they came out completely burnt—dry, hard, and inedible. I politely raised the issue with the staff, but instead of offering any apology or solution, I was met with rude and dismissive behavior. The way they handled my complaint was unacceptable and showed a complete lack of customer service. Definitely won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting decent food or respectful service. I even asked to speak to the manager, hoping to resolve it properly, but that didn’t help at all. The attitude I received after raising a genuine concern was unacceptable. Terrible customer service on top of bad food—I won’t be coming back.
Worst Fish and Chips I have ever had! For a renowned high street chip shop it was very disappointing. One star for the piles of limp Chips. Poor quality small piece of cod in extremely crispy chewy batter. Come on guys, get the basic “ Fish &Chips” right for the average person trying to eat during present cost of living times.
I ordered food the other day worth £20 and it tasted awful. The fish was slimy and tasteless. Chips was soggy and with in tiny pieces. And the curry sauce was runny and had no flavour. Awful food and wouldn’t recommend.Not as good as it used to be
Absolutely horrific visit this evening, all the staff were just chatting and ignoring customers, ran out of essentials and when I eventually got served they messed my order up then told me I had to wait another 5 minutes for chips, I had already queued for 15 minutes, I was not prepared to wait so I said I was going to leave then I received abuse and humiliation as I walked out. I will not be back.
Great service here. Quality was good. One of our portions of fish had a soggy batter at bottom for some reason. We didn't have any vinegar either so not sure how that happened. Note: you'll probably need to park on side streets as that end gets busy with parked cars.
