I've always received excellent service here over the many (many) years I've been a customer. From my days with an aquarium to my current garden pond system, this has been an invaluable hub for supplies and advice. With a large range of stock, it would be unusual to not find what I'm after. From fish stocks and feed through to ponds, plants, treatments, and plastic ducks (VERY important accessories). There's not much that isn't here. On top of that there's the staff expertise; whenever I've needed help it's always been easily forthcoming. My latest visit - for example - was deftly handled by Alice; her immediate understanding of my query was most reassuring, and subsequent purchases were made on recommendation through clear product knowledge and sound advice. Thanks Alice! Picture attached to this review is a few years old now; posted when I originally reviewed during the pandemic and had just rebuilt my water garden. They were my first fish; all still going strong. A little too strong perhaps... Too many fish now... Anyone want some fish?

I’m giving a 2 star review due to the experience and the cruelty to the fish I saw. We came up to buy 6 guppies - 2 of each from 3 different tanks for our mature established tank. The man who served us, filled his net then picked out two fish with his fingers, carried them across two fish tanks in his fist to the bag. The one fish got stuck in a wrinkle in the bag with no water in whilst he got the fish from another tank- again using his fingers to pick them out of the net. Even a novice knows that there are oils on a human hand and handling fish bare hands is best avoided. Also to not even wet his hands before handling the fish is cruel. I did say to him about this at the time and the stress caused to the fish - he said it was less stressful than catching with a net ?! As we left I said to my husband it would be a miracle if these fish survive and sure enough - 3 of the 6 were dead by the morning . I called the shop and explained and they asked me to bring my water in for testing - I was even more annoyed as it was quite clear what caused these fish to die. Also now as I’ve had these fish die in my tank I’m worried about contamination into my existing tanks. Anyway it was the store procedure so I did take a water sample in and my water was fine.( attached photos of my own test which I do weekly and results of the store test ) The store replaced the fish. However in all my 35 years of fish keeping and I shop at Wenvoe, Radyr and Newport branches for fish plus occasionally pets at home and aquatic house I have never seen this cruelty which resulted in these fish dying . They must have been so stressed. I wish I had spoken up more at the time. It is just so cruel - they survived the long journey to the shop yet at the hands of this fish seller they die. It’s almost sadistic and there should be strict procedures when selling fish to avoid stressing the fish. It’s really shocking . If it was a dog or a cat I would call the RSPCA.

Lovely aquatic retailers... Their store at Wenvoe, just outside Cardiff, is the cleanest, best maintained & best stocked of all their stores in the area. The staff are always happy to help & are informative, especially when purchasing living creatures - it's these little things that make the world of difference & there's always ample to free parking available too.

The guys who work here are very knowledgeable. I've purchased my tank and shrimp from here. Now I love just visiting to see the koi carp.
