Great lunch with the family! The food was fantastic - service great too. I would suggest a little festive music or soft jazz in the background ;) I love the interior of the dining room, would return. Thank you
This is a hotel that has been active since the 1400s. Rooms were large and the beds were fine. Given the age of the building, the flooring is uneven(might be good to know for people with mobility impairments). I had booked this place months in advance. There is an optional breakfast for 12 pound per head. Make sure you clarify your breakfast plans beforehand.
Not a particularly warm welcome on arrival and not very friendly barman which was a shame. Room was very run down hole in window frame, old (not in a good way) bedroom furniture, radiator not working so had a plug in heater, room smelt of cigarette smoke could be from customers smoking outside but still not very nice when you walk into the room. Breakfast was okay no one to show us where to sit or what to help ourselves to. On checking out wasn't even asked how our stay was just took the key. Needs some investment and staff need some customer service training.
What a beautiful unique experience! Highly recommend for all of the reasons. The room, reception, bar and restaurant are what you would expect for 15th century architecture and vibe. It's not the Hilton but if you want to experience that historic vibe and a few fun history lessons along theway, than this is your stay. The bed was comfortable and the room had all of the amenities. A little on the smaller side and floor uneven but it totally works! The staff was so kind and beyond accommodating! We will be back! So close to the cathedral and all of the shopping and restaurants. Enjoy your stay!
The only good thing about this hotel is its location - everything else was a complete let-down. From the moment we arrived, the service was awful. The reception staff were incredibly rude, arrogant, and made no effort to be welcoming or helpful. Breakfast was just as bad: dry, tasteless beans paired with soggy, watery eggs - an unappetising combination that I couldn’t finish. The rooms are very dated, tired-looking, and in desperate need of a serious makeover. For the price charged, I expected far better. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely never stay here again.
First visit to the restaurant and it did not disappoint. Restaurant was very cosy and warm. Staff was fantastic. And the food was a delicious. Great evening all in all.
Had our work Christmas meal in the restaurant. Outstanding decor and environment and superbly cooked food. My first turkey meal of the year was a good one which all the others will now be measured by. Very enjoyable afternoon.
Rooms cozy and clean- shower a bit of a challenge as you have to step down c 30 inches + ceilings low! But the staff were lovely and the location is fantastic
An amazing old hotel. The decor and the building is so beautifully kept to its historical relevance. Our family room had uneven floors but this is a 600 Yr old building. Absolutely love this place. Feels warm and friendly. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
