Very professional and caring. Their notes are thorough and up to date. Even though it was only annual vaccinations they made sure that my dog was comfortable to have the vaccination and that they didn’t hurt her unnecessarily.
Our precious dog Lillie, lost her life at MAES Y GLAS BRACKLA veterinary practice on 30/10/25. We took Lillie to them at 8.30am as an emergency as she was having difficulty breathing. She was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, and we were told that even though she was critical, dog's can survive this. We were advised that Lille would need to stay in overnight. Me and my daughter went back to the vets same day to see Lille at 10am. They were reluctant to allow us to see Lillie, but eventually agreed. Lille looked so much better, her head was up she was alert. She was still breathing laboured, but looked so much better than what she was. That was when CANDICE entered the room!!! She asked us to consider euthanasia, where CANDICE stated "do you really want your dog's last 48 hours to be here with us". We were confused, we said we didn't want Lillie to suffer but we wanted them to fight for her life. CANDICE took our Lillie away saying she would give it another 2 hours. Unknown to us at the time, (but following a review of Lillie's medical notes), CANDICE made the decision to reduce Lillie's diuretic Furosemide, rather than maintain/increase it. This is a life-saving med for dog's in critical pulmonary edema...but her med's were reduced at 10.26am (just 2 hours of being in the vets) and no further diuretic given!!!!!! Lillie's lung's refilled, which they would with no diuretics being given. Her BP increased as did her pulse and respiratory rate and her oxygen levels dropped to 89% . So what did Maes Glas Vets do at this critical point? They REMOVED LILLIE FROM INTENSIVE CARE AND PLACED HER IN THE OVERFLOW KENNEL!!!!!!!!! WHY WHY WHY??? Because they prioritised operations over Lillie's life because they are all about MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!! If we had known they were doing this to our precious Lille, we would have taken her to another vets who wanted to save her! The vets rang us at 12.40 to say Lille was deteriorating and we needed to think about euthanasia. They wheeled Lille into the room where even though she was quiet, she was alert but breathing very laboured. Lille had blood all around her mouth and fluid draining from her nose!!! How could they do this to our Lille??? What vet allows a dog to suffer to this level, by withdrawing life-saving treatment even though she was responding and then putting Lille in a overflow kennel on her own, rather than looking after her in Intensive Care!!!! They told us if we didn't put our dog to sleep that she would drown!!!! Lillie was put to sleep because they said there was no alternative. Having now researched this condition and looking back at what happened, I 100% believe Lille could have been saved if she had been with a different vet. PLEASE PLEASE - if you are reading this, do not use this vets!. Our family are absolutely devastated and completely heartbroken that our precious Lillie's life was so cruelly and horrendously taken from us and that she suffered at their hands!!! We will get justice for our Lillie, as we will never love another dog again, not as much as we loved our Lillie.
We really appreciate all the support, care and advice given to us caring for our two dogs. Vets, nursing staff, pharmacy workers, physios and admin staff are always helpful - our dogs are always treated as special and they aren’t afraid of their visits. Highly recommended
Maes Glas vets Bridgend is a first class veterinary practice. We have been taking our 3 Bassett hounds and rabbits there for the past 9 years! The staff from receptionists, cleaners, nurses and vets are fantastic. They have a candle on main reception which explains that it is lit when an animal has to be put to sleep. We have complete faith in them as a veterinary practice.
Super great vets with really good staff who are always willing to help you. You can get reminders for your dogs medicines by text and any questions you need just ask them. Really impressed with Maes Glas Vets.
Best vets in my area all staff are super friendly helpful and efficient The vets and nurses just love the animals, this is clear by their interaction when dealing with them and in reception.
Difficult to see the same vet twice so continuity sometimes disrupted but I feel there is a lot of knowledge shared amongst the vets and the 'less experienced' will readily consult another if any doubt. It is a friendly practice and staff across the board are polite and helpful. Due to the number of patients time keeping is quite disrupted. I am not complaining as I may have been one who was 'slotted' in to support my boy. I am very happy overall with the level.of care at Maes Glas and have recommended you to many other dog walkers that I meet
Reception staff need a bit of customer service training. Was left waiting to sign into our appointment whilst they were discussing holidays and ignoring us as we stood there like spare parts. Unsympathetic to the fact I was about to have my beloved hamster PTS, yes it’s ‘only a hamster’ but to me she wasn’t! The vet however was fantastic, sympathetic and respectful, she was amazing and I’m grateful for how sensitively she handled everything. I would give her 5 stars if I could rate separately. Apparently they take feedback seriously but I emailed my complaint to the relevant email address months ago with no response, hence this review.
