   Had our Christmas Day lunch at the bear hotel Cowbridge It was amazing ***** Service fab ***** Food fab ***** Atmosphere fab ***** all those extra touches what a super special day they made us feel. Will be booking again for next year as soon as the day to book it is Opened up. Love the way everyone dines at the same time. Great idea. Thank you to the staff. Maria and Jess

   We had our wedding day here, and It is the best venue with the most incredible staff. Molly and Klaudia in the events team while helping plan were always there for us and couldn't of done anything more, making everything as stress free and easy as humanly possible, all while being so kind! On the day Mike and Amy made sure everything went to plan and were so wonderful to us and our guests, and Wayne the evening DJ was amazing too. We couldn't recommend a better more accommodating venue, and the rooms that we and some of the guests stayed in were perfect. Thank you so much to the whole team at the bear!

   We've just returned from a overnight stay at the Bear as a party of 12, we had a great time in this lovely old historic hotel, I need to especially praise Hannah the receptionist went over and above to help us , notably letting us use the function room and serving us at the bar so we could all sit together on what was a very busy night, i would definitely return! In fact one couple in our group have already booked.

   We booked months ago for a Christmas meal for 6 adults and 2 children, specifically requesting the festive menu. We even called the week before to reconfirm the booking. However, upon arrival we were told they were no longer offering the festive menu. We had to order from the standard menu instead, which was more expensive, and several items were unavailable. I want to say that our waiter was absolutely lovely — very apologetic and genuinely tried his best to make the experience better. He honestly saved the night for us. The food itself was very good, but when you book a Christmas meal and some members of your party travel over 3 hours to be there, it’s really disappointing to find out last minute that what you booked isn’t available. We also had to double-check our bill because drinks we didn’t have had been added. Overall, a very mixed experience. The staff member who served us was fantastic, but the organisation and communication definitely need improvement.

   Last minute night away - so good we booked again in 2 weeks! Very warm welcome - from maintenance team to management everyone had a warm smile and welcoming hello!! Service was exceptional with nothing too much trouble. Room was well appointed - only smidge of criticism - no hairdryer and could have done with more coffee sachets.

   Can’t recommend this hotel / bar / restaurant highly enough. Outstanding quality of service and food. Bar service always efficient, clean and friendly. Lovely decor / authentic. Hotel rooms are well run and clean- most importantly beds super comfy! Defo staying again…

   Enjoyed the prawn and crab cocktail sandwich for lunch, which came with a beautifully dressed salad. Cant fault the staff, their service was impeccable! The restaurant was fairly busy - clearly well loved within the community. Definitely will be going again!

   Went for a Sunday lunch, was great to be able to take the dog as I think most places should these days, service was good, beer and wine selection could have been a bit better but overall good choices. Sunday lunch was pretty good but food could have been a bit warmer. Good portions overall, but was very select with the mains and desert maybe this was because the time of day we decided to have lunch. Would visit again for maybe a mid week meal.

   Stayed over with their Sunday offer of room, dinner & breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed! The courtyard room was very clean and welcoming, especially for your dog with bowls & bedding provided - massive help. The food was delicious and good quality both breakfast & dinner. Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, visited in Autumn so the fires were on and very cosy. Ate breakfast in the old part of the pub in the window booth - such fun watching the world go by. ☺️ Went with a group of friends, six of us in total and we were very well looked after, nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to visiting again with my husband. Recommend a visit

   We came for Sunday lunch and left disappointed. The service was ok, but our food was not to the usual standard the Bear serves. Three out of four patrons were ill following the meal, so this would definitely put us off from coming again unfortunately.
