The staff are always welcoming and helpful The gym is well equipped with all that you could need for whatever workout you want to do Now with a plunge pool it’s worth the membership fee just to use the pool

The facilities at Village Gym are quite good. The equipment is well maintained, and there is a wide range of cardio and weight machines. The gym has two strength and free weights areas, good fitness classes, an excellent spin studio, and a large pool that usually has lanes open. The sauna is small, and the lower benches sometimes get moisture damage, although they do get replaced. The steam room is generally fine, but the area where your back rests can feel a bit slimy. The cool dip pool is great, and there’s an outdoor gym area, although I’ve never seen anyone using it. The showers work, but they could definitely use some attention. Some locks don’t work properly, some shelving is loose or tilted, and there’s noticeable wear and tear in some cubicles. The everyday staff are consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’ve always had a good experience with them. Where the gym falls short is in administration and communication regarding policies. When I joined, I was told off-peak access was until 5 pm, but in reality, your pass stops working at 4:30. This means you need to ask staff to let you in manually, which wasn’t explained upfront and can feel awkward. To be fair, the off-peak package is good overall, especially with unrestricted access on weekends, but the weekday cut-off should be clearly explained. The complimentary guest passes were also disappointing. They come with restrictions that aren’t made clear at the start. Guests receive membership sales calls afterward without having given permission. This makes the passes feel more like a sales tool than a genuine perk. Overall, it’s a strong gym with solid facilities and excellent staff. However, clearer communication, more transparent policies, and some attention to the changing rooms would significantly improve the member experience.

Went into Village Gym today with a quick query before my workout, and Cheryl was amazing! She went out of her way to help and was super friendly and approachable. I really appreciated her kindness and the effort she put in.

I’ve been regularly going to this gym for around 3 years now and for the committed gym goer it offers excellent value. It has great facilities which receive investment and further development. The on site pool and spa provide welcome relaxation and “me time” after a good workout in one of the many excellent fitness classes. There are a range of special events put on throughout the year which have more of a social focus and help to build a real sense of community. The instructors are top class, the location is convenient and vibe is nice. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending.

Really well-appointed gym, lots of equipment, friendly staff. The range of exercise classes is excellent. The sauna and steam room are really good too. It's a wee bit expensive but hey that's life.

Very nice swimming pool and facilities for families with small children. Glad we found a cheaper deal online through Hussle though, otherwise we would have paid £19 per adult, so a total of £38 just to use the pool from 9 to 12 (they do not allow children from 12 to 2)

Steph, thank you for making the experience of joining The Village Gym seamless. To arrive and be made to feel as welcomed as you did surpassed my expectations. I did not feel rushed or pressurised into joining and felt that my custom would be valued. I am hoping that this level of excellent customer service continues as I start to enjoy the membership.

My 3rd year as a member over the last 10 years. It's a good gym with good facilities but it used to be a lot nicer. Since they opened it up to 16y+ it's now full of teen chavs which makes it more like a cheap leisure centre crowd sadly. I get that it's all about profit but it used to be a much better crowd. I'd happily pay even more membership to return it to the way it used to be. Not even worth going now in January, it resembles an overcrowded high-school with way too many people. Too busy to use any equipment or the steam room or sauna. They really need to stop selling these cheap, teen memberships.

The pool area has been smartened up and the sauna has been refurbished. The jacuzzi is lovely and hot and is on much more than had been previously. The new weights room is pretty impressive and I noticed last night they've had a shipment of brand new spin bikes
