I’ve known Andy for almost ten years, and he’s taught me most of what I know as a dog handler. He’s always the first person I call if I have any issues with my dogs—or if I’m going away and need someone I can trust to look after them. In my view, he’s one of the best dog trainers in the world, even if he’s far too modest to say so himself. If you ever get the chance to learn from Andy, make sure you take it and really listen!

Andrew took the challenge of helping me train a rescue 7yo husky. While she knew (selectively) some basic commands, recall wasn’t a thing. Andrew helped Tala and I to work through it; he trained us both. Tala is now fully off lead and our walks are much more enjoyable for both. The real testament to the training was today, Tala went after a deer. Following Andrew’s method, she did come back to me. Disaster avoided! Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Back in May, we took on a terrier-cross dachshund who we were told was trained. In the house she was a dream, but on walks she was reactive, barking aggressively at other dogs and constantly pulling on the lead. Walks were stressful and not enjoyable. After researching trainers, we found Andrew at Woodborough Kennels and decided to take her, along with our 6-year-old Border Terrier (also a bit of a “gobby” one!), for training. Even after the very first session, both dogs showed noticeable improvement and a new level of discipline. Andrew focused on the basics. Sit, down, heel and explained how these simple commands are the foundation for everything else. Each week, he asked for videos of our progress, gave helpful feedback, and was always available on WhatsApp with advice. Over the weeks, both dogs became calmer, more responsive, and far less reactive. It hasn’t been an easy journey. There’s was no magic fix, but Andrew’s knowledge, patience, and practical training methods have given us the tools to continue improving. His approach of training the owners as much as the dogs is spot on, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. Thanks to him, our once-yappy and reactive pair are now well-behaved and a pleasure to walk. Would highly recommend Andrew to anyone looking for professional, effective, and compassionate dog training.

Have used these kennels several times and my dogs love it as they get lots of play time and the kennels are heated. The staff are all friendly and polite. Not quite a home from home but a second best!

We can not rate Woodborough and the staff there highly enough. We have two rescue dogs and one of them is reactive to other dogs, so deciding what day care and kennel option to use was a very important decision. The staff at Woodborough have been fantastic, the dogs welfare is their top priority and they are very knowledgeable. Our dogs are happy to go back which speaks volumes.

The two photos attached to this review would have been unimaginable three months ago before we started our 1-2-1 training with Andrew. We have been struggling with our dog’s reactivity to other dogs and sometimes humans, in particular cyclists and runners, since adopting him. We have tried training with two previous trainers before Andrew and had little success. We spent the last twelve weeks with Andrew following his guidance and training, which focused on us learning to be better dog owners and engaging with the dog. Andrew was patient and very clear with the training including the needs of the dog. While it hasn’t been easy it has been incredibly rewarding. No longer do we need to wake up at the crack of dawn to walk the dog or have to be on the constant look out for other dogs. Walking the dog has now become an enjoyable experience and we have both become a lot more confident dog owners. We know our training doesn’t stop here and we ourselves have to carry the baton, but we are happy the future is bright thanks to Andrew and his training.
