a wonderful stay at Great Tangley Manor - a privilege to stay somewhere with so much history. The house was super clean, the kitchen was well equipped, bedrooms were comfortable, swimming and tennis court were great, and the grounds are beautiful, so well looked after Anne and Glyn were very helpful both before and during the stay, can highly recommend coming here.

We feel very lucky to have been able to stay in such a historic home, all credit to the owners for making it possible and carefully balance history, vintage and modern touches (such as the kitchen and hidden TV in the library). The bedrooms were large, living areas spacious and the kitchen well set up to host big groups. Despite a February visit, we enjoyed the heated pool and outdoor area was beautiful, we can only imagine how stunning the gardens would look in spring, summer and autumn. It was easy to find, easy to check-in and we found the guidebook really useful to prepare for our stay. Thank you for opening up this wonderful home!

We booked Great Tangley Manor for a surprise weekend away to celebrate my dads 70th birthday. (8 adults + 4 children) The house was fantastic, so much character and history to enjoy. There was more than enough space for everyone and the bedrooms were all a great size to accommodate everyone. The grounds are beautiful and very close to Guildford town for shopping. We had everything we needed for the weekend, the kids loved the swimming pool and the kitchen was very well equipped to cook meals for our large group all weekend.

Great Tangley Manor is utterly unique. It is a fascinating and historic manor house, part dating from the 11th Century and recorded in the Domesday Book, but mainly from the 1580s (and most of the dining room wood panelling is from the Armada). It is a beautiful building, complete with moat, set in stunning grounds in the Surrey Hills. Well appointed and with modern kitchen and breakfast room. Good indoor swimming pool (which we used) and tennis court (which we didn't) on site. Some of the plumbing is idiosyncratic but that is inevitable with such antiquity, and everything works. We stayed for four nights as a family, hosted a birthday tea party with friends invited, and we loved the place.

We booked and paid the non-refundable price and told the property manager that we would be celebrating my motherβs 70th birthday. We also paid a large amount extra for late checkout which, at other nearby venues, has been free. We later informed them of the exact number of people attending (adults and a 3-4 babies) for about 3-4 hours on Sat afternoon. At this point the property manager revealed theyβd be charging another large extra amount per person (babies would also be charged) for their visit because he is βrunning a businessβ. We explained that we would be using our own cutlery, that it was a dry event and that babies do not cause wear and tear to a property. It feels like we were being charged a premium for a professional, luxury experience, however, the fridge and some of the kitchen cupboards were dirty. It said it had salt and pepper - these were broken and empty. The owner didnβt want us to ruin her clean driveway as it had been raining. Therefore, we had to use the back driveway, which meant our guests ALL got lost as there is no signage or view of the house from the back. This meant one of us had to wait by the back gate and missed half of my mumβs birthday. The bedrooms were very cold and there were not enough indoor heaters. Overall, we definitely felt we had been overcharged and the property under-delivered. There are much better value properties nearby.

We recently spent a wonderful weekend at this stunning Manor House steeped in history. Having read the historical background, it was amazing to spend a few days here knowing that years ago some famous figures had stayed here. Everything about it was just perfect - from the impressive dining room with the etchings on the window panes, the sumptuous bedrooms, the bright and airy kitchen and breakfast room overlooking the courtyard with it's fish pond, the beautiful gardens and last but not least the heated swimming pool. A big thank you to Glyn, Ann and Nicho.

We had an incredible time here. Such a stunning, historic and beautiful house. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous, secluded and well kept, and we could go for peaceful walks whilst being undisturbed. We loved our stay here. Nicho our contact was outstanding, very organised and helpful. A perfect upmarket and private place to stay in the country whilst remaining close to London.
