I joined this gym 2 months ago having moved to Epping recently, I was waiting for the new site to open but as it was delayed I joined the old building. The building itself yes it’s outdated and small but everything you need is there. I’m more impressed with the community at the centre, I have been to several classes and the gym itself, the members and staff are friendly and helpful. When we relocate, it will be an added bonus to have a bigger space with new equipment but the people make the leisure centre a great experience.

A friend and I only came here (from Hockley, near Southend) to use the showers after having run the Epping Forest 10km. We had been prepared to pay for a day pass, but also wanted to use the swimming pool to make it more worthwhile. However, when we asked at reception, we were informed that there is no swimming pool. We explained what our intention had been, and the lady on reception very kindly allowed us to use their showers free of charge. We were extremely grateful for this as we wanted to stay in Epping for the afternoon as this is where my friend's dad was from, and he had very recently passed away. I've no idea what the rest of the facilities are like, but the showers are great.

I gather now the new building is in process they are neglecting the current one. The building is dirty, the gym is way too crammed and you are always waiting for equipment. Pretty expensive given the quality of the facilities.

Most of staff are friendly but the rooms in the current gym are very small, overheated and loud. The lack of mirrors and visual feedback means that everyone does different things. Unfortunately, there is no alternative in Epping. Hopefully the new building will be open soon.

Quite possibly the worst gym I've been to. 1. Tiny, unattractive and claustrophobic gym with Technogym machines (considered some of the worst in the business, all awkward designs/poor pumps), a small dumbbell rack area with only 3 benches and 2 sets of cables that are either broken or hogged. 1 bench press and 2 squat racks. Cardio wise in the gym, 2-3 rowing machines, 4 Spinning bikes and about 9 treadmills, the latter two which are pretty much all occupied at peak hours. 2. Gym etiquette from members is appalling. After 1600 hours, you have a bunch of consistent 3-5 young teenagers that hog machines and benches (only 3) and congregate the small spaces. Sadly, some of these teenagers have ZERO etiquette. Expect behaviour like curling in front of the dumbbell racks, resting during curls on the 3 benches and bullying and hogging of equipment. 3. Tragic carpark system with only a one-way enter system, complete with only about 30 bays in total. I've also seen several Police cars called to the gym a few times in the last 2 years, god knows why and honestly not a good look to the reputation of the gym. 4. Only positives for me in the gym are the monkey bars (pretty standard), the quality of the Technogym Dumbbells and the generosity of Dumbbell rack in how high the weights go up. All of this for Β£47 a month is a daylight robbery. The only reason I guess you pay that is because there is no other competition in Epping. If a Puregym or The Gym opened up in this town, I imagine Epping Sports Centre would lose 50% of their members.

Lovely gym with a real sense of community. My favourite part of going to the gym is definitely my personal trainer Sarah Fitzwater - she has been a massive help to me with my fitness journey and has raised my confidence levels astronomically. If you are new to Epping gym, have gym anxiety or just want to smash your personal bests I would definitely try out some personal training sessions with Sarah!

The gym is convenient if you live in Epping and don't want to drive, adequate for local but basic and not enough equipment. Pete is a great PT who makes the place, good staff let down by management. Closed for nearly two weeks over Xmas this year (still charged the entire month, their attitude was drive to another centre, which defeats the point of paying to go to a gym you don't have to drive to). Have cut many of the Virtual Studio Cycling Classes, which was a great benefit & USP and were on all throughout the day every day, now virtually no classes in the afternoons, just an empty studio full of bikes which you can't use apparently, even though you use them on your own if you're the only one doing a class, makes no sense! Junior session daily best avoided in the gym, groups of kids hogging equipment, benches and weights for long periods of time with no gym etiquette or consideration for other members. Frustrating, not like any other commercial gym I've been a member of, don't feel valued as a member. Too many compromises for the benefit of the location, especially when there are better and cheaper options if you are prepared to drive!! Hope the new leisure centre will be better.

The sports centre is hardly open, closes from 23rd Dec for 11 days and early closing at weekends. Never known anywhere like it! Not a great way to get more people to join really.

Little gym equipment , many kids hogging machines don’t pay if parents member….. BUT close to home , next nearest Harlow… maybe change gym only option , places Loughton good though

The gym is great, it has the equipment you need, just has a finite amount of it. During busy hours it's difficult to get on certain equipment, but if you time your sessions properly the selection is good and the staff are always welcoming. The staff are nice and welcoming... some of the other reviews I've seen seem a bit dramatic...
