   Great place drinks good food decent. Felt sorry for syaff as very narrow passage to access the kitchen.. but what really lets it down is the toilets which were all wet and stunk of urine, sorely in a pub should be cleaned regularly and make sure of good ventilation floors should be dry as is a safety hazzard being wet due to slipping. This is meant as constructive criticism to allow for improvements. Regards!!

   It was our first time in The Nelson, for a Sunday lunch, and we were really impressed with everything. The service was friendly and prompt, the food delicious and plentiful and the Landlord beer and Guiness excellent. One huge advantage of the pub is its located just a couple of minutes walk to a path alongside the Trent. Just ideal for a pre or post meal walk.

   Went in on a Friday evening. There was 6 of us and we all had something different. Each dish was complemented by the person eating it and all believed they had had exactly what they wanted. I had the Chicken schnitzel that was tender and juicy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside. Perfect. It was washed down with Blue Monkey Infinity ale which was again at the top of it's game. The only minor gripe was the menu offered chips cooked in beef dripping (I know not the healthiest option but it does make them taste great!) but they had run out. The chips were lovely anyway so I haven't marked it down on that. It would have just been a welcome change. All in all, a thoroughly recommended pub.

   This pub is a really nice local pub in Burton Joyce. After a dog walk along the river we’ve been here twice for lunch The service is great and the food is very good! I particularly loved the crispy cauliflower The fish fingers are home made and full of fish.

   Great beer but the place was an absolute pigsty. Every single table had about 7/8 empty glasses on the tables, chairs strewn everywhere and the bar staff couldn’t give a monkeys, instead of tidying up the place they just spoke loudly about how hungover they were and couldn’t be arsed being there. Very disappointing. They did serve me quickly though so fair play. Wasn’t even that busy either. No excuse. Had to take empty glasses off the table myself.

   Took mum for lunch. She had the biggest fish finger sandwich we have ever seen £7.50. The fish goujons were lovely with plenty of flaky white fish. The other two dishes we had were the fish of the day,which was Haddock £16. Served with chips, mushy peas, tartare and curry sauce. Beef Bourguignon with Truffle mash £16. This was very tasty with that lovely rich sauce. It was all very filling and only lunch time so didn't have any desserts. The staff are lovely, welcoming and very eager to please their customers. Well worth a visit if your into great food and service as we are.

   Sunday lunch here was excellent. Beef was tender and pink, pork cooked to perfection. Vegetables were fresh, roast potatoes crispy and the presentation was top. Busy but overcrowded (booking is recommended). Great atmosphere and reasonable prices.

   A lovely pub that has a warm atmosphere . You are welcomed quickly and seated at the table with a menu and your chosen drinks served in no time at all. The food is exceptional. Especially the Sunday Lunch. We visited on a Saturday Evening this time and we all had the mussels to start. They were amazing, so fresh. There was lots of bread offered to include GF with the dish and some chips too. Not any old chips, but the best we had all ever tasted in a very long time. Just like the local chippy ! It really was a brilliant meal. There was a singer in the bar and the music was at a great pitch, for a conversation too.The bar itself was very busy, but it had no effect on the service in the areas at all. We will all return again to eat here, especially as the Staff are all so very polite and very helpful. 10/10 Guys. Thank you.
