I stayed on a Monday night as needed to be near Plymouth for the morning. I fancied something abit different and gave it a go. Iβm so glad I did, I had a fantastic steak with what were the best chips Iβve ever tasted! The view at breakfast was amazing too! The staff were outstanding too!

Once a majestic grand building atop the moor looking down on to Plymouth Sound, the fabric of building is more than a little worn. But fear not the high quality food and exceptional and friendly service more than makes up for it. Look at it in the round and it is an interesting place to stay, rather than the big corporate monoculture that more modern hotel chains display.

We have stayed here twice and came back to the restaurant because we enjoyed the food that much. We experienced nothing but fantastic service from the staff they can't do enough for you and they are so friendly, we were recommended by my fiancee sister and her husband so we then recommended to my fiancee parents and we all ended up going back for a night away together which was lovely the views are amazing, we found the hotel over all to be very charming and full of character with super lovely staff that we're nothing but pleasant. We will be back for many more visits. Thank you for your hospitality

Stayed here overnight to break up our journey, having been staying here for 25 years and it being new owners it is exceptional. The staff were very welcoming and went above and beyond. The food was amazing, the rooms are lovely and cosy and the location is perfect. Lovely view from balcony.

The hotel was run down, but oh my the scenery was divine!! The front of the hotel faces a gorgeous view of farmland, mountains and water. The back of the hotel faces a hill frequented by adorable sheep. I loved seeing and hearing them from my window. If you take an easy and quick climb up that hill out back, the view is spectacular. I drove from the hotel and within minutes came across the friendly wild Dartmoor ponies and later some cows. In late August when I was there, I saw babies and parents of all three. Just a heartwarming, peaceful country excursion that did me good. The very small staff were very friendly but overtaxed: each have many roles. Very dog friendly. Breakfast and Dinner served at the restaurant in the hotel attached to a mini pub with big tv playing sports. No refrigerator in the room for leftovers so you'll need to leave for lunch. Note: you will need a car to get to and around the hotel. Be careful when leaving the parking lot, the view is obstructed and I almost lost my life leaving.

Sometimes stop here for a beer. Looks a bit tired from the front but thatβs the Dartmoor weather for you. Slightly retro but comfortable inside. Music choice at the bar is β80s ish. Which suits me. One real ale on a stick - Jail Ale from Dartmoor Brewery. Very nice and well kept. Plenty of parking

Was here with a large group for a Christmas meal. Not been here before. Was surprised just how good the food was. Fairly large portions, cooked well, and nicely presented. The staff were very good, polite and friendly. Beautiful view acros the the moors and to the sea. Unfortunately the building itself is a bit shabby, could do with a bit of an update!

Absolutely fantastic stay, had the best time at this wonderful hotel, such a peaceful and stress free break away. We stayed in room 10 which had a wonderful balcony overlooking Plymouth sound which was incredible. All the staff are incredible and extremely friendly. Loved all the local animals who come to visit, the sheep, cows, horses and even the stags. We were so welcomed with our very large dog who everyone made a fuss over. Food in the hotel was so good we had meals in the evening and breakfast and all were fantastic and you can even take your dog to breakfast and lunch and there is a farm cafe a short walk down the road where you can take dogs. We had the best stay and can't recommend this location enough. The Wilson family with the large dog will deff be back.

Great, slightly old fashioned British hotel. That means the rooms have quite thin walls, fittings that are loose or tired and so on, but nothing that takes away the enjoyment of a stay here. The staff are excellent, and the real jewel in the crown is the restaurant. We ate here a few times and every meal was excellent. The steak... The fillet steak was one of the finest I've ever tasted, and it's a favourite meal of mine. We really enjoyed our stay and would be very happy to stay here again.

I only came here for a meal with my son and his in-laws, I've not stayed the night. We had a lovely meal. I chose the Duck and honestly it was so perfectly cooked I was nearly falling off my chair in extacy. We were all really happy with our choices. It's not particularly cheap, but it's so good I would rate it as good value. Certainly worth it.
