Sat next to the door and the stairs in this crammed area. We asked to move and were denied- which the waiter then justified as they had big tables in. However a table of 2 just over the restaurant was free the whole time we were dining. We expected to be dining in the caves with dim lighting in our own space. But the caves were closed- if the staff would’ve told us prior we would’ve cancelled. You are expected to buy 3 dishes per person which is about £50 and the money is not worth the food. Don’t get me wrong the food was nice but small portions on tiny plates for big price tags weren’t too appetising. Dessert menu was limited and lots of wine out of stock. We had to flag waiters down and felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. We are young so they might of seen us as more of an inconvenience than a big party that would leave a massive tip. Left still hungry and went to McDonalds after for a fraction of the price!

We had the most incredible meal here last night, we had clients over from America and we asked if it was possible to have a tour of the caves and Gabriella happily obliged. The welcome was so warm, the service was great and the food was just delicious - every single dish. Highly recommend!

I rarely write restaurant reviews, but the cuisine on offer in Bar Gigi is head and shoulders above anything else I’ve eaten in a long, long while…anywhere. The food is amazing and the restaurant is set in a stunning building…and how they got the Fiat 500 in remains a mystery. The staff are attentive and welcoming but not in the slightest bit pretentious as can be the case in some establishments. I don’t have the vocabulary to express just how good the food is. Each course surpassed its predecessor. The crab arancini blew our socks off but the gnocchi was simply out of this world. The stuff I cook at home can no longer be called gnocchi! Top tip, the tiramisu is large enough to share between two. We’re lucky enough to have travelled extensively and eaten some amazing food but this place is a taste sensation and as an independent goes some way to filling the hole left behind when ‘Tonic’ closed in Nottingham over a decade ago. Even the bill was a pleasant surprise being less than we thought / expected it to be, which is always nice. We’ll definitely be back!

We visited Bar Gigi today and If I could give it 10 stars I would! The staff from the moment we arrived were very welcoming and helpful, the restaurant itself is stunning. But the most important part, the food… each dish we had was beautifully presented and delicious, the scallops were the best we’ve ever had! The wine selection is excellent. We will certainly be visiting again! Buonissimo!

Hidden gem indeed! First time visiting a few weeks ago. Lovely fresh environment in a characterful building. Food was really good, bread portion could feed 6 people but was the perfect taste and texture. Burrata and peaches was great, as was the pork rib.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The quality of the produce is incredible and the flavours are perfect. We went completely overboard and ordered way too much because we couldn't choose just a few dishes. The staff really know their stuff and take pride in what they serve too which just adds to the already brilliant experience. I would 100000% recommend.

A current hidden gem in Nottingham (just off the Market Square) that deserves to be experienced. The team, especially our hosts for the evening Christian and Magda, have worked tirelessly to create a wonderfully unique Italian experience in the heart of the city, where presentation and attention to detail is evident in all aspects of the restaurant. The food is delectable, with the fillet steak and calamari in particular being some of the finest served in Notts. Sit back, relax, order a couple of espresso martinis and limoncellos and enjoy the food, lovingly selected to be shared.

Had the best meal with friends at bar gigi! The wine was perfect and small plates were delicious. We had a selection from all courses to share between 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed every one. The cheeses with honey on the antipasti was a favourite! The service is brilliant, you’re well looked after from start to finish. The attention to detail with decor and finish touches are super luxurious and give it a great atmosphere. We also got to have a sneak peek at the caves which took our breath away. We can’t wait to come back and experience wine tasting there. Thanks guys!!
