   The fish and chips are excellent at the Gameton Lock. The Atlantic caught cod or haddock (depending on the catch) is light and flaky with a batter that is a crisp light color. I ordered my plate with mushy peas and my wife ordered the garden peas. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The fish was the largest single piece I have seen in any restaurant. Delicious! To complete the meal we each had dessert. I opted for the chocolate dome brownie and my wife had a sticky toffee pudding with custard. For great food in Nottingham the Gameton Lock is the place to go. There is a restaurant and a bar where food can be ordered. I had to taste the non-alcoholic Guinness beer that will soon be available on tap, but for now comes in a can. A good choice to complement the fish and chips dinner.

   Went for dinner with family, the place was lovely and clean; staff were very welcoming and smiling. The menu was also easy to understand with a good variety of food. Our main course came quite fast, and the starter was delicious. The restaurant was quite busy but nonetheless the service was excellent. The toilets were clean and they surprisingly had hand sanitiser which most restaurants no longer have. For people with pets, they luckily have a corner where they provide bowls of water. Next to the pub there is also a hotel which a friend has given us a good word about in the past although we personally haven’t been. Fortunately the pub has a big, spacious car park with areas to charge electric cars. The outdoor seating was also lovely with a children play area as well. Staff were careful with my husband’s gluten allergy; as you can see in the photos they placed a stick in the burger to make it clear that it was gluten free. Reasonable prices and we also used a 30% voucher off main courses which we received in the post.

   Marston's hotels are similar to premiere inns. Comfortable with all mod cons. The difference is that Marston's have proper twin rooms with twin beds not just a double bed and a put you up. The Gamston lock pub team are fantastic; polite, friendly and helpful. Reception for hotel is in the pub itself as the pub team look after the hotel as well. Had a lovely 2 day visit. Big thank you to Thomas, Andy and Tracy who made us very welcome. There is a great pub quiz on Wednesday nights which was good fun and different to the usual pub quizzes. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

   Service was excellent but the food was dry and recycled. My potatoes were atleast day old, the vegetables where microwave defrosted and not properly. Salmon was over cooked and tasted like paper. The Rotisserie chicken was so so dry. I would recommend this place for drinks but not food. Very disappointing.
