Fantastic venue for all ages Me and my friends felt very safe here and the staff are brilliant. The landlord Richard is a great guy and keeps a very good pub and goes beyond to make the place the best in town.

Has the potential to be a decent pub but unfortunately the lady working on the bar was quite rude and unwelcoming. From the moment we walked in she spoke to us like we were being interrogated like she didn’t want us to be there. Not exactly how I’d like to be spoken to in a pub as a customer but either way it does have the potential to be a decent little spot but I found the lady behind the bar to be quite rude.

Pubs make a profit selling Diet Coke (on tap) at £3 a pint. Pubs like the Stage try to double/triple their mark up by filling the glass with ice. The Stage, however, has gone a step further. “A pint ‘without ice’ costs more, almost double” I was told. Cost - almost £5 a pint! It might be ‘legal’ because of a loophole in Trading Standard laws but what a disgusting example of profiting. Take my advice, go elsewhere. Response: Hi Richard. I didn’t get a receipt however it was a card payment for £9.80 (2 x pint of Diet Coke) at 16:40 yesterday (3 July 25). I’m not convinced it was a mistake as the comment above was the quote by the barman. The picture attached was the barman who served me, if this helps. If you wish to take this off-line please let me have your contact details.

Nice place. I love that there's a cool room by the bathroom. Like from a mob movie. Not a bad cider, you can watch a soccer game comfortably.

Thanks to Kim, the Manageress, we had a brilliant hour waiting for the bus to Derby. Why was it brilliant? Well, despite not having heard of the band, when requested, she removed the bland background music and put SLF over the speakers. Having just seen a great gig by Stiff Little Fingers, this was a perfect sound track for that last pint before heading home. Nice one Kim.

Good range of drinks, good prices, great central location, bit rough around the edges but always worth a visit on a night out. Staff need a bit of a customer service training, but it doesn't detract from the night

Nice pub, just opposite the stage door of the theatre. Good selection of beers wines and spirits. What more could you want.

Very rude Owner, sat at our seats for less than five minutes, the owner came over asking if he could help us in a sarcastic voice, because we didn't order drinks quick enough for him. At the bar when ordering drinks 2 cokes, he said 'is that it?'. Very rude avoid at at costs Bald and had a white shirt on. Made us very uncomfortable and was very rude.
