When people talk about a 'proper pub' this is probably what they mean; an unspoilt, multi room pub, with lovely beer gardens. A wide choice of well kept real ales are always available and the food is top notch.
This had great atmosphere. Service was also good. One person on the busy bar but his service to who was next was outstanding. Good food served in a timely manner. Great place.
Had the most exquisitely perfectly cooked piece of pork I've ever had in my life last night! The special was pork loin with roast pots, veg and a delicious sauce, my 2 friends had the surf and turf with chips, and we all had the fantastic pork terrine starter! I forgot to take a pic of my delicious creme brulée desert, with strawberries and blueberries, even better than any I had in my 4 years living in Paris! How lucky we are to have such amazing pub food here in Ockbrook... beat a path to the door of the Royal Oak, a wonderful pub with a wonderful atmosphere, cosy snugs, friendly staff and the Ockbrook Big Band in the summer there is not to be missed...
We came here whilst visiting some friends and it was exactly what we were looking for in a traditional pub. Friendly staff, great pie and a really affectionate cat.
No football, no music, no screaming kids, good food, great beer. The only negative for me was the cats roaming free throughout the pub. Staff tried to keep under control.
Here for regular beer festival. One of the best real ale pubs in the area. Great beer, great food, as friendly as they come. If you haven't been before you need to try it
Ah what a lovely place, very traditional. The pretty little hidden gardens. Scrumptious high quality ham cob delicious chips with a pint of shandy and we only went out for a quick walk, what a find. Having moved to the area just before Covid we are now starting to find some real gems. The staff were really lovely.
Quaint pub with lots of small rooms to eat and drink inside. One of the rooms can be used for functions such as discos or weddings. There is also a seating area outside for drinking and eating but this I feel is part of the carpark. Prices for food and drinks are reasonable and food is delivered quickly. The toilets are, however, outside again near the carpark which is bad in cold wet weather. Staff are nice and friendly. The venue is worth a visit
